Job Overview: The Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting the WHO European Office in Copenhagen, particularly in the monitoring, evaluation, and accountability of the EIA2030 initiative and donor-funded projects. This position requires collaboration with technical officers and countries to enhance their capacity for monitoring and evaluating national vaccine-preventable disease control programs. The incumbent will contribute to the development of frameworks and tools for effective monitoring and evaluation, ensuring that immunization programs are responsive to local needs and data-driven. The role emphasizes addressing immunization inequities and supporting countries in recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic's impact on vaccination efforts. The specialist will also be responsible for analyzing data, preparing reports, and maintaining communication with country focal points to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop frameworks, guidelines, and tools for monitoring and evaluating progress towards EIA2030 goals.
Disseminate reports on the progress of EIA2030 initiatives.
Coordinate activities to strengthen information and monitoring systems in compliance with WHO guidelines.
Develop guidelines and tools for Member States to establish context-specific monitoring and evaluation systems.
Maintain regular contact with country focal points for data reporting and quality feedback.
Analyze and visualize data for effective communication and decision-making.
Contribute to the monitoring of donor-funded projects in the WHO Europe region.
Undertake additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Required Qualifications:
University degree (Master's level) in health, mathematical science, public health, epidemiology, or a related field.
Additional university degree in relevant fields is desirable.
At least 7 years of public health experience in epidemiology and monitoring of communicable diseases, with a focus on vaccine-preventable diseases.
Experience in monitoring and evaluation of health programs is desirable, particularly within WHO or the UN system.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Master's degree in health or mathematical science, public health, epidemiology, or a related area relevant to the position. Additional qualifications in these fields are considered an asset.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 7 years of relevant public health experience, particularly in epidemiology and monitoring of communicable diseases. Demonstrated experience in the control of vaccine-preventable diseases is essential, along with experience in monitoring and evaluation of health programs, preferably within WHO or the UN system.
Languages: Expert knowledge of English is essential. Intermediate knowledge of French, German, and Russian is desirable, enhancing communication capabilities within the diverse WHO environment.
Additional Notes: The position is based in Copenhagen, Denmark, with a competitive salary starting at USD 77,326 annually, plus a variable post adjustment reflecting the cost of living.
