Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position within the WHO Academy's Learning Technology Team is designed to provide students and recent graduates with practical experience in supporting a global Learning Experience Platform (LXP). The intern will work under the supervision of the Learning Technology Officer and will be involved in various tasks aimed at enhancing the functionality, adoption, and user experience of the LXP across WHO Academy programs. The role includes assisting with course setup, providing technical support, conducting research on best practices, analyzing user data, and supporting the organization of workshops and training sessions. The internship is structured to help the intern develop skills in technical support, user data analysis, and documentation, while gaining insights into the goals and objectives of WHO Academy's Learning Technology and Innovation.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a range of duties, including:
LXP Support: Assisting with the internal use of the Learning Experience Platform, including course setup, migration, and hosting activities.
Technical Unit Support: Providing troubleshooting support for WHO Technical Units and external suppliers, including basic LXP training and content integration guidance.
Research and Documentation: Conducting web research, collecting data on learning platform best practices, and documenting LXP use cases and user feedback.
Data and Analytics: Analyzing user data from the LXP to identify engagement trends and areas for improvement.
Event Support: Assisting in the organization and coordination of workshops, meetings, or training sessions related to the LXP and digital learning technology.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have completed the equivalent of three years of full-time studies in a relevant field such as Information Technology, Computer Science, Educational Technology, or Learning Sciences. They should also be enrolled in a course of study leading to a formal qualification. Interns should demonstrate core competencies such as teamwork, communication, and respect for cultural differences. Familiarity with commonly used computer programs like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is essential, while knowledge of specialized software like statistical tools may be advantageous.
Educational Background: The educational requirement for this internship includes having completed three years of full-time studies in a relevant field at a university or equivalent institution. Candidates must also be enrolled in a course of study leading to a formal qualification, or if they have graduated, they should apply within six months of completing their qualification.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have experience in research and report drafting, as well as familiarity with digital learning platforms, particularly Learning Management Systems (LMS) like edX. Hands-on experience in supporting digital course setup and platform user support is highly desirable. Additionally, experience in basic data analysis, including compiling usage metrics and learner engagement data, is an advantage. Strong organizational skills are necessary for managing tasks such as data collection and document organization.
Languages: Essential: Expert knowledge of English is required. Desirable: Intermediate knowledge of French or another UN language is preferred, which would enhance the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in a multilingual environment.

Interns do not receive a salary but are provided with a living allowance that varies by duty station. In Lyon, the maximum allowance is 622 EURO per month for interns with permanent residence in the area, and 1446 EURO for those residing outside. Additionally, interns receive a daily lump sum for meal expenses and are covered by accident and medical insurance. Candidates should be aware that internships at WHO are competitive, and only a small number of applicants will be accepted each year. Selected candidates must provide proof of enrollment in an eligible course of studies and complete a medical certificate of fitness for work.
