Job Overview: The Editor position at AIIB involves providing expert editing services for Project Documents and related documentation. The primary goal is to ensure that each document is clear, consistent, and suitable for its intended audience, which mainly includes Board members. The Editor will support the Vice President of Investment Clients, Region 1 (VPIC1) by reviewing and editing speeches and documentation as directed. This role requires close collaboration with project teams to maintain the integrity of technical content while enhancing readability and coherence. The Editor will report to the Advisor on Project Quality (Assurance) in VPIC1, ensuring that all editorial work aligns with AIIB's standards and guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Editor will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
Editing: Review and edit Project Documents for clarity, coherence, and readability, ensuring the use of concise, precise, and consistent language. Correct grammatical, spelling, and punctuation errors while adhering to AIIB's editorial guidelines.
Content Structuring and Consistency: Collaborate with project teams to ensure logical structure and flow in Project Documents, verifying consistency in terms, definitions, and figures across documents. Enhance document presentation, including section headings, tables, figures, and graphs, to improve readability.
Compliance with AIIB Editorial Guidelines: Ensure that all documents align with AIIB's editorial and formatting guidelines, applying the latest terminology, style, and branding guidelines.
Technical Integrity: Work with project teams to understand complex concepts, ensuring technical accuracy while simplifying content for broader comprehension. Tailor project documents to meet the appropriate level of detail for Board Members.
Quality Control: Conduct final quality control checks on Project Documents before submission, focusing on language quality, document flow, and adherence to AIIB's editorial and formatting guidelines.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism, International Development, or a related field. In lieu of a Master’s degree, consistent employment with a proven track record in an editorial capacity will be considered. Additionally, candidates should have at least 5-7 years of professional experience in editing complex technical documents within development finance, international development, or a related sector. Experience working with multilateral development organizations is highly preferred. Proven expertise in editing and quality control for complex technical documents is essential, along with exceptional attention to detail, grammar, and language skills. Familiarity with development finance and sector-specific terminology is also required, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills.
