Job Overview: The Editor will provide expert editing services for Project Documents and related documentation, ensuring clarity, consistency, and suitability for the intended audience, primarily Board members. The role involves supporting the Vice President of VPIC2 in reviewing and editing speeches and documentation as directed. The Editor will collaborate closely with project teams to maintain the integrity of technical content while enhancing readability and coherence. Reporting to the Advisor on Project Quality (Assurance) in VPIC2, the Editor will play a crucial role in ensuring that all documentation meets the high standards expected by AIIB.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Editor's responsibilities include reviewing and editing Project Documents for clarity, coherence, and readability. They must ensure that concise, precise, and consistent language is used across all documents, correcting grammatical, spelling, and punctuation errors while adhering to AIIB's editorial guidelines. The Editor will work with project teams to ensure logical structure and flow in Project Documents, verify consistency in terms, definitions, and figures across documents, and enhance document presentation, including section headings, tables, figures, and graphs. They will ensure compliance with AIIB's editorial guidelines and be familiar with the latest terminology, style, and branding guidelines used in AIIB documents. The Editor will collaborate with project teams to understand complex concepts, ensuring technical accuracy while simplifying for broader comprehension. They will conduct final quality control checks on Project Documents before submission, focusing on language quality, document flow, and adherence to AIIB's editorial and formatting guidelines.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism, International Development, or a related field. In lieu of a Master’s degree, consistent employment with a proven track record in an editorial capacity will be considered. A minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience in editing complex technical documents in development finance, international development, or a related sector is required. Experience working with multilateral development organizations is highly preferred. Candidates should demonstrate proven expertise in editing and quality control for complex technical documents, exceptional attention to detail, grammar, and language skills, and familiarity with development finance and sector-specific terminology. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential, along with a strong understanding of project documents prepared by multilateral development banks. Familiarity with the editorial standards and guidelines used by AIIB or other multilateral development banks is also necessary.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism, International Development, or a related field. Candidates with extensive experience in an editorial role may be considered in lieu of a Master’s degree.
