PSI is seeking an experienced, dynamic
Deputy Project Director to lead a multi-country intervention aimed at improving uptake of intermittent preventative treatment in infants (ITPi) for an anticipated Unitaid award. PSI has a rapidly expanding portfolio of
malaria programs in over 27 countries, worldwide, which accounts for more than a third of the total business of the organization. PSI's global strategy focuses on improving consumer powered healthcare through shaping market systems, shifting policy and funding and strengthening global capacity. For the Malaria Department this means moving quality malaria case management closer to consumers; bringing next generation ITNs to market; scaling response driven surveillance to accelerate malaria elimination progress and maximizing the value of drug-based prevention interventions, such as IPTi.
Responsibilities
Your contribution
The
Deputy Project Director will support the Project Director with the overall leadership and managerial oversight for the project and support timely implementation and reporting of activities. The Deputy Project Director will be based in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire and will support the implementation of the operational pilots across several countries in the region. The Deputy Project Director will liaise with in-country staff, National Malaria Control Programs,
national immunization programs and Consortium members to ensure effective implementation of this project.
You will:
- Provide support to the Project Director on the overall project leadership and management.
- Manage and supervise the work of country focal points and lead the day-to-day operations of multi-country operational research pilots.
- Support the organization and development of content for country-level project design workshops
- Support the Project Director to convene country level Advisory Groups and to strategically work with key stakeholders to ensure the project meets its policy and sustainability objectives
- Support the work planning process, performance management, knowledge management and strategic communications
- Support the knowledge management component of the project.
Qualifications
What are we looking for?
- A Master's degree related to health, social sciences, or development, medical degree preferred
- At least 7 years of professional experience working with developing countries, with at least 1 years of experience supporting or managing bilateral or multi-country projects.
- Demonstrated knowledge of managing or supporting malaria programming.
- Experience with drug-based prevention or EPI preferred.
- Effective English and French oral and written communications skills required. Portuguese language skills desired but not critical.
- References will be required.
- The successful candidate will be required to pass a background check.
- Must be eligible to work in Cote d'Ivoire.
