Job Overview:
The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the logistical activities of the mission to ensure the smooth execution of SI's programs in Haiti. This role involves establishing and ensuring adherence to SI's logistical procedures and tools within the mission. The Logistics Coordinator participates in defining the mission's strategy, drafting project proposals, and determining the necessary resources for SI's activities. Additionally, the coordinator supports the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">country director in operational security management and serves as the primary contact for all logistical matters between the headquarters and the mission. The mission is currently in a significant transition and development phase, which includes an increasing operational volume and the deployment into two new areas, necessitating the establishment of key procedures within the mission.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Logistics Coordinator's duties include:
  • Leading the logistical activities of the mission to ensure effective program implementation.
  • Establishing and enforcing logistical procedures and tools.
  • Participating in the strategic planning of the mission and drafting project proposals.
  • Supporting the country director in operational security management.
  • Acting as the liaison between the headquarters and the mission for logistical inquiries.
  • Training and capacity building for the logistics team.
  • Overseeing the opening of two new intervention areas.
  • Ensuring compliance with security protocols and procedures.
  • Managing logistical resources and ensuring their efficient use. 1
  • Reporting on logistical activities and challenges to the management.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a higher education degree in logistics (supply chain, transport, general services, humanitarian logistics) or an equivalent qualification. They should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least 0-2 years in a similar position. Technical skills required include knowledge of institutional donor rules and procedures, mastery of logistics operations, and strong writing, analytical, and synthesis skills. Interpersonal skills such as planning, organization, coordination, diplomacy, adaptability, and the ability to work in an unstable security environment are also essential.

Educational Background:
A higher education degree in logistics or a related field is required. This could include degrees in supply chain management, transport logistics, general services, or humanitarian logistics. Equivalent qualifications may also be considered, depending on the candidate's experience and expertise in the field.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with specific experience in logistics roles being highly valued. Candidates should have at least 0-2 years of experience in a similar position, demonstrating their capability to manage logistical operations effectively in challenging environments.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, while knowledge of Haitian Creole is considered a plus. Proficiency in additional languages may enhance a candidate's profile but is not required for this position.

  • The salary is competitive, starting at EUR 2860 gross per month, which includes a base salary and a 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly, along with a monthly per diem of USD 75
  • SI covers housing costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's home country and the duty station. The organization also provides a structured break system, allowing for 7 working days off every three months, with additional rest days accrued monthly. Expatriates receive comprehensive health insurance covering medical, dental, and optical expenses, as well as repatriation costs.
