Job Overview: The Senior Protection Associate will play a crucial role in supporting program activities for Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection (BOTPs) in Ireland. This position involves direct supervision of a team comprising four Caseworkers and two Project Associates, focusing on the delivery of protection-related activities and transition assistance for BOTPs. The Senior Protection Associate will work under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and the direct supervision of the Head of the Integration Unit. The role requires collaboration with various workstreams to ensure alignment and effective use of synergies. Responsibilities include implementing project activities in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), supervising and training Caseworkers in individualized casework, and coordinating logistical and administrative support. The position also entails maintaining data accuracy for all records in IOM's internal software platforms and contributing to periodic reporting on project results, ensuring confidentiality and integrity of records.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Protection Associate include:
Supporting the implementation of project activities aimed at assisting BOTPs in Ireland, ensuring adherence to project SOPs.
Supervising and training Caseworkers in delivering individualized casework, including conducting vulnerability and needs assessments and providing onward support for BOTPs in emergency accommodation settings.
Overseeing Project Associates while supporting concurrent workstreams, ensuring coordination and alignment of project activities and outcomes.
Coordinating the effective implementation of SOPs in the field and providing technical support to workstreams as needed.
Building the capacity of Project Associates and Caseworkers to implement activities efficiently and effectively.
Supervising day-to-day operations and liaising with donors and stakeholders, coordinating logistical and administrative support as required.
Drafting processes and procedures to maintain data accuracy and contributing to periodic reporting on project results.
Maintaining confidentiality of all project-related matters and supporting efforts to mitigate fraud and malfeasance.
Performing any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Senior Protection Associate position include:
A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Social Science, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with five years of relevant professional experience; or a high school diploma with seven years of relevant professional experience.
Proven experience in a similar setting and capacity, particularly with protection-related casework support.
Experience supervising a team and demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher.
Good knowledge of information technology applications and previous work experience in international, governmental, or non-governmental organizations.
Project support and coordination experience would be considered an advantage.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Social Science, or a related field from an accredited academic institution. Alternatively, a high school diploma with seven years of relevant professional experience is acceptable. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database, ensuring that candidates have received their education from recognized institutions.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in a similar setting and capacity, particularly in protection-related casework support. Experience in supervising a team is essential, along with a demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Previous work experience in international, governmental, or non-governmental organizations is highly desirable, and project support and coordination experience would be considered an advantage.
Languages: All IOM staff members are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages, which include English, French, and Spanish. For this position, fluency in English is mandatory, both oral and written. Proficiency in Ukrainian or Russian would be an asset, along with any other official IOM language. The proficiency of required languages will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
Additional Notes: The position is subject to funding confirmation, and any offer made to the candidate is contingent upon this. The selection process may be used to staff similar positions in various duty stations, and recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment in a similar position for a period of 24 months.
