Job Overview:
The Clean Energy Supply Senior Lead will play a pivotal role in shaping and strengthening the Clean Energy Supply (CES) pillar of the Energy and Sustainable Business (ESB) program at WRI Indonesia. This position is crucial for contributing to the overarching goals and impact targets of WRI's energy initiatives. The Senior Lead will provide strategic and technical leadership across various clean energy supply topics, including green power procurement, grid flexibility, integrated resources planning, solar PV and battery energy storage systems (BESS), energy tariffs, and the integration of transport and power systems. The role involves close collaboration with the Clean Energy Demand team and the ESB research team to strategize research priorities, identify gaps, and ensure the timely delivery of high-quality research outputs. The position is hybrid, requiring 8 days per month in the office, and includes opportunities for travel.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Research & Development: Provide strategic direction for the CES pillar, leading policy and technical studies to produce recommendations in areas such as corporate renewable energy procurement and energy transition for industrial decarbonization. Oversee research quality and alignment across topics, co-develop technical analyses, and lead coordination with subject matter experts to produce research products. Contribute to WRI Indonesia's communication efforts by developing blog posts and briefs to enhance the impact of ESB initiatives.
  • Projects Management and Engagement: Oversee the implementation and budget of CES projects, ensuring compliance with donor requirements. Provide leadership to the CES team, monitor research results, and engage with external stakeholders, including donors, government institutions, and corporate partners. Develop and maintain strategic collaborations to strengthen CES interventions.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Energy Economics, Economics, Energy Systems, Natural Resources Management, or a related field, with a Master's degree preferred. A minimum of six years of experience in renewable energy, power systems, or closely related fields is required. Candidates should demonstrate in-depth knowledge of renewable energy and power sector issues, experience in renewable energy procurement, power system planning, grid flexibility, energy storage, and energy markets. Strong analytical skills, the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, and a proven track record of managing projects and teams are essential.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field such as Energy Economics, Energy Systems, or Natural Resources Management is required. A Master's degree is preferred, indicating a higher level of expertise and understanding of complex energy systems and policies.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of six years of relevant experience in renewable energy, power systems, or related fields. Candidates should have a proven track record of working on projects related to energy transition, renewable energy procurement, and grid flexibility, demonstrating their ability to lead and manage complex initiatives effectively.

Languages:
Proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia and English is mandatory. Candidates should possess strong communication skills to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not required.

Additional Notes:
This is a full-time position with a fixed-term employment agreement for six months, with the possibility of extension up to December 31, 2027, based on individual performance and project needs. Candidates must have existing work authorization in Indonesia, as WRI is unable to sponsor visas for this position. The role includes a hybrid working model with flexible hours, and candidates should be willing to travel as required.
