Job Overview:
The Communications Officer position within the IMF's Communications Department (COM) focuses on modernizing the Fund's publishing practices and enhancing its digital content capabilities. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing the production of the Annual Report of the Executive Board, which involves managing a complex editorial process that requires collaboration with various stakeholders across the institution. This role demands a strong understanding of emerging technologies and innovative publishing solutions to improve workflow efficiency and accessibility. The candidate will also be responsible for implementing AI-assisted workflows and developing guidance to strengthen digital publishing capabilities within the division. The position requires excellent project management skills, the ability to work under tight deadlines, and a commitment to promoting knowledge sharing both internally and externally.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:
  • Implementing AI-assisted workflows to enhance efficiency in all phases of the publication process, from content development to dissemination.
  • Developing reusable prompt libraries and guidance to improve digital publishing capabilities.
  • Identifying and evaluating emerging technologies to support editorial review and content preparation.
  • Serving as the editor and project manager for the IMF Annual Report, overseeing all phases of its development, review, and publication.
  • Coordinating with various stakeholders, including the Executive Board Evaluation Committee and departmental counterparts, to refine content and key messages.
  • Managing departmental review processes and ensuring compliance with quality assurance standards, including copyediting and proofreading.
  • Monitoring project budgets and production expenditures associated with assigned projects.
  • Supporting day-to-day digital publishing tasks and serving as a publishing advisor for selected institutional publications.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in Communications, International Relations, Languages, or a related field, or a university degree supplemented by a minimum of six years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, candidates with a minimum of two years of relevant experience at grade A08 or equivalent are also eligible. Additionally, candidates should have professional experience in emerging technologies related to editing and publishing, experience with AI-enabled digital publishing tools, and a demonstrated ability to manage complex editorial and publishing projects. Strong organizational skills and the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders are essential, along with familiarity with digital publishing platforms and content management systems.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should have an advanced university degree in a relevant field such as Communications, International Relations, or Languages. A university degree supplemented by significant professional experience in related areas may also be acceptable. The educational background should provide a solid foundation in communication strategies, editorial processes, and digital publishing technologies.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of six years of relevant professional experience in communications, publishing, or related fields. This experience should include managing complex editorial projects, coordinating with multiple stakeholders, and familiarity with digital publishing processes. Experience in an international organization or similar environment is desirable, as it demonstrates the ability to navigate complex institutional structures and processes.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the IMF. Proficiency in additional languages, particularly those relevant to the IMF's member countries, is considered a valuable asset and may enhance the candidate's profile.

Additional Notes:
The position is classified at levels A09 and A10, indicating a mid to senior level of responsibility. The selected candidate will maintain their open-ended status if they are a regular staff member. If the candidate is a contractual employee, they will be offered a Term staff appointment.
