The DCO's regional teams are located in key cities around the world, including Bangkok, where this internship is based.

Job Overview:
The UN Human Resources Intern position is designed to provide students or recent graduates with practical experience in the field of human resources within the context of the United Nations. The internship is part-time and remote, allowing for flexibility in work hours, with a commitment of less than 34 hours per week. The intern will work closely with the regional office in Bangkok, supporting various communications and advocacy efforts across Asia and the Pacific. This role is particularly focused on enhancing the visibility of the UN's contributions to development initiatives in the region, which includes tasks such as public outreach, multimedia content creation, and digital communications. The intern will also engage in media monitoring and assist in tracking regional and global coverage of key development and geopolitical trends, which will inform the communications strategies of the DCO and Resident Coordinator Offices.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks that support the regional office's operations. These include assisting in the creation of multimedia content for digital platforms, contributing to public outreach initiatives, and supporting visibility efforts that showcase the UN's work in the region. The intern will also be involved in drafting news articles and social media posts, which requires strong writing skills and the ability to communicate effectively. Additionally, the intern will help design surveys and polls to gather feedback and insights from stakeholders. Media monitoring will be a key responsibility, where the intern will track coverage related to development and geopolitical issues, providing valuable information for strategic outreach and messaging. The intern will report directly to the Team Lead and collaborate with other team members to achieve the office's objectives.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants for the UN Internship Programme are not required to have prior professional work experience, but they must be pursuing a field of study that is relevant to the internship. Candidates should be in their final year of a bachelor's degree, or enrolled in a master's or Ph.D. program, or have completed such programs. Proficiency in standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams, is essential. The ability to draft news articles and social media content is highly desirable, as is experience in designing surveys and polls. Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to tasks are important for success in this role.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be students in their final year of a bachelor's degree or enrolled in a master's or Ph.D. program. Alternatively, applicants may have already completed their bachelor's, master's, or Ph.D. programs. Proof of enrollment or completion will be required during the application process. The educational background should be closely related to the internship's focus, such as communications, international relations, human resources, or a related field.

Experience:
While prior professional experience is not mandatory for this internship, candidates should demonstrate relevant academic knowledge and skills that align with the responsibilities of the position. Additional Notes:
This internship is unpaid, and candidates are responsible for covering their own costs related to travel, visa, accommodation, health insurance, and living expenses during the internship period. The expected duration of the internship is a minimum of three months, with the possibility of extension up to six months based on the needs of the office. Interns are expected to work five days a week, totaling 35 hours. The internship is designed to be remote and part-time, allowing for flexibility in scheduling. Candidates who are not citizens or permanent residents of Thailand may need to obtain the appropriate visa and work authorization prior to starting the internship.
