Job Overview:
The UN DPO Private Sector Partnerships Specialist position is designed to assess the feasibility of mobilizing resources and establishing sustainable strategic partnerships with organizations and donors outside of Member States. The role involves creating a training program that focuses on corporate fundraising, high net worth individuals, and philanthropic giving through family trusts and foundations. The consultant will be responsible for designing and delivering an interactive training program that enhances participants' understanding of fundraising and partnership development, identifies new funding opportunities, and supports the development of an organizational approach to resource mobilization. This position is crucial for strengthening UNMAS's capabilities in securing private sector funding and expanding its resource mobilization strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will work under the supervision of the Chief of the Policy, Advocacy, Donor Relations and Outreach Section. Key responsibilities include conducting a detailed analysis of UNMAS's ability to access non-traditional funding sources, assessing current capabilities, and making recommendations for improvement. Specific duties include: 1) Performing a desk review of relevant organizational documentation, including strategic plans and fundraising materials. 2) Surveying UNMAS's understanding of non-traditional funding opportunities and evaluating its capacity to deliver in this area. 3) Conducting consultations and interviews with staff members, partners, and stakeholders to assess current organizational capacities and challenges. 4) Evaluating the Mine Action sector's utilization of non-traditional funding avenues and identifying entities accessing private sector funding. 5) Delivering a detailed assessment report with recommendations for a future UNMAS Private Sector fundraising strategy, including options for engagement, resourcing, and timelines.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in social sciences, international relations, development, public administration, humanitarian affairs, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted. A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in Private Sector Fundraising is required, along with expertise in donor acquisition channels, donor retention, and development methods. Previous experience in the UN related to Private Sector Partnerships is essential, as is proven experience in developing partnership strategies and analyzing fundraising opportunities. Candidates should also have up-to-date knowledge of fundraising techniques and trends in the philanthropic landscape, as well as the ability to produce high-quality written materials tailored to specific audiences.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in relevant fields such as social sciences, international relations, development, public administration, or humanitarian affairs is required. A first-level university degree may be accepted in combination with additional qualifying experience, demonstrating flexibility in educational requirements based on professional background.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 7 years of professional experience specifically in Private Sector Fundraising. This experience should include a strong understanding of donor acquisition channels and methods for donor retention and development. Previous work experience within the United Nations or in a closely related function is mandatory, highlighting the importance of familiarity with UN operations and partnership dynamics. Proven experience in developing strategies for Private Sector partnerships and analyzing fundraising opportunities is also essential, ensuring that candidates can effectively contribute to the organization's goals.

Languages:
English is the required working language for this position, as it is the primary language used within the United Nations Secretariat. French is also recognized as a working language, but proficiency in English is mandatory for this role.
