Job Posting Organization:
The position is located within the Facilities and Commercial Activities Service (FCAS) in the Division of Administration (DOA) at UN Headquarters in New York. The UN Department of Operational Support (DOS) provides operational support to UN Secretariat entities globally, which includes advisory, operational, and transactional support services. The DOS supports nearly 100 entities located around the world, ensuring effective management and operation of the UN Headquarters complex, which encompasses various services such as property management, travel and transportation, archives, and catering.

Job Overview:
The Senior Programme Management Officer will guide, support, coordinate, and monitor the implementation of the UN80 Travel Processing Consolidation Project. This role involves leading the evaluation of the travel consolidation project, directing subordinates in project development and implementation, and liaising with relevant parties to ensure the project's success. The officer will also be responsible for coordinating activities related to budget and funding, managing outreach activities to standardize travel processes, and ensuring effective utilization and development of the project management office staff. The position requires a strategic approach to identify key issues and opportunities, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Programme Management Officer will take the lead in monitoring and providing Secretariat-wide programme coordination, including evaluation of the UN Secretariat travel consolidation project in both Phase 1 and Phase
  • Responsibilities include directing subordinates in project development, implementation, monitoring, and assessment; guiding the consolidation project and evaluation; coordinating development activities; undertaking survey initiatives; supervising the preparation of various consolidation recommendations; managing outreach activities; coordinating budget and funding activities; serving as a spokesperson; ensuring effective utilization and development of staff; and performing other duties as required. The officer will also be responsible for collecting and analyzing data to provide insights for decision-making and reporting.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, management, economics, or a related field. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in corporate travel project or programme management, administration, or a related area, as well as experience in developing and implementing processes in a travel-related client service delivery setting.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, management, economics, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree if combined with qualifying experience.

Experience:
A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in corporate travel project or programme management, administration, or a related area is required. Candidates should have experience in developing and implementing processes, procedures, systems, or standards in a travel-related client service delivery setting, as well as experience in creating collaborative frameworks that unite offices, suppliers, and internal stakeholders in an international organization.

Languages:
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, proficiency in both languages is required, with a minimum level of proficiency specified according to the UN Language Framework.
