Job Overview:
The Grant and Knowledge Management Specialist plays a crucial role within the External Relations Unit of the Humanitarian Response Division (HRD) at UNFPA in Geneva. This position is responsible for supporting the HRD in enhancing resource mobilization and ensuring coherent reporting on UNFPA's emergency responses to donors. The specialist will work closely with various HRD units, regional offices, and country offices to ensure business continuity and effective implementation of grants. The role requires a strong focus on knowledge management, ensuring that best practices are documented and disseminated effectively. The specialist will also engage with partners and stakeholders to promote the use of knowledge products and facilitate the development of UNFPA's HRD knowledge management priorities in line with the organization's results framework.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Grant and Knowledge Management Specialist include:
  • Grant Management: - Contributing to the coordination of HRD proposal development for new and ongoing multi-country grants. - Compiling and producing quarterly, bi-annual, and annual donor reports for HRD-led grants, ensuring a harmonized approach. - Monitoring compliance with grant and reporting requirements across all relevant HRD units. - Finalizing reports for timely submission to donors and coordinating multi-unit grants for effective implementation.
  • Donor Engagement and Communications: - Supporting donor engagement efforts and communications strategies.
  • Evidence and Knowledge Management: - Developing UNFPA’s HRD knowledge management priorities and ensuring documentation of good practices. - Promoting the dissemination and use of information and knowledge products across HRD units and relevant stakeholders. - Maintaining a knowledge management repository and supporting partnerships with think tanks and academic institutions.
  • Additional Duties: - Performing any other duties as directed by the Head of the External Relations Unit, including emergency deployment as needed.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires the following qualifications: - Advanced University degree in public health, medicine, sociology, demography, gender, economics, international relations, international development, public administration, marketing, management, or a related field. - A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in grant management, particularly in areas related to sexual and reproductive health, gender, and population development, with at least 3 years at the international level. - Substantive knowledge management and research experience, with practical knowledge in strategic information management. - Experience in programmatic or technical assistance within the UN system or other international development organizations is desirable. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in relevant fields such as public health, sociology, demography, gender studies, economics, international relations, or related disciplines. This educational background is essential to understand the complexities of humanitarian response and the specific needs related to sexual and reproductive health and rights.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of professional experience in grant management, with a focus on sexual and reproductive health and gender issues. A minimum of 3 years of this experience should be at the international level, demonstrating the ability to navigate complex humanitarian environments and engage with diverse stakeholders effectively. Experience with the UN system or other international development organizations is highly valued.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position. Additionally, a working knowledge of other UN languages is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate and collaborate in a multilingual environment.
