Job Overview:
The Public intern" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Information Intern position is an opportunity for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in the field of communications and media within the context of the United Nations. This internship is designed to assist the Division for Palestinian Rights of the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, focusing on the creation of original content for various social media platforms. The intern will engage in storytelling that highlights UN-related events and initiatives, contributing to the visibility and outreach of the Division's work. The role requires a blend of creativity and technical skills, particularly in social media management and video production, to effectively communicate the Division's messages to a global audience. The internship is expected to last between three to six months, with a flexible start date, and can be conducted in-person or remotely, depending on the intern's needs and preferences.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks that include but are not limited to: identifying storytelling opportunities related to the UN and translating these stories into engaging content; assisting in the creation of original multimedia content for social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and TikTok; generating content from special events organized by the Division, including film screenings, concerts, and exhibits; providing production assistance, videography, and video editing support, with a focus on creating high-quality animations; taking and editing photos and recording videos for web content and social media announcements; drafting written materials as needed to support the Division's initiatives; and supporting ongoing multimedia updates to the UNISPAL website. The intern will work closely with the team to ensure that all content aligns with the Division's objectives and adheres to the UN's standards of communication.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required for this internship, candidates should have a field of study closely related to the internship. Additionally, applicants should possess good knowledge of standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams, along with relevant training or practical experience in Adobe After Effects and other video/photo editing software. A background in Communication and Advertising is preferred.

Educational Background:
Candidates should be pursuing or have completed a degree in a relevant field such as Communications, Media Studies, Advertising, or a related discipline. The internship is open to students in their final year of a bachelor's degree program, as well as those in master's or Ph.D. programs. Proof of enrollment or completion of the required educational qualifications must be provided during the application process.

Experience:
While prior professional work experience is not a prerequisite for this internship, candidates should demonstrate familiarity with social media management and content creation. Relevant training or practical experience in video editing and multimedia production is essential, as the role involves hands-on work with various software tools and platforms. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks effectively is also important.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this internship, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish, is considered desirable and may enhance a candidate's application.

Additional Notes:
This internship is unpaid and requires a full-time commitment of 35 hours per week, although part-time arrangements (20 hours per week) and remote work options are available based on the intern's needs.
