Job Overview:
The Young Professionals Program (YPP) at the World Bank Group is designed for exceptional professionals who are eager to apply their specialized technical expertise to address significant development challenges. As a Young Professional (YP), you will work across various sectors of the World Bank Group, including the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), and International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). The program emphasizes leadership development, technical training, and cross-institutional collaboration. YPs are expected to engage in three eight-month rotations, which include working in their primary area of expertise, participating in cross-institutional projects, and gaining field experience in a country office. This structure is intended to enhance their understanding of the institution's operations and the complexities of global development. The YP Academy provides a structured learning journey that encompasses technical training, language programs, negotiation skills, and leadership development, ensuring that participants are well-equipped to tackle the challenges of urbanization and other pressing issues.

Duties and Responsibilities:
As a Young Professional in the Urban, Subnational Finance, Tourism and Disaster Management department, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at supporting urban development initiatives. Your duties will include:

• Urban Development Analytics and Diagnostics: Assisting in the preparation and delivery of urban diagnostics and analytical notes that inform lending operations and technical assistance. You will analyze urban systems, synthesize findings, and develop actionable recommendations for client governments.
• Land, Housing, and Spatial Planning Support: Contributing to the team's work on administration" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">land administration, housing, and urban planning. This involves supporting project preparation, reviewing technical approaches, and developing knowledge products.
• Geospatial Data and Spatial Analytics: Developing and applying geospatial tools to support urban diagnostics and project design. You will integrate various spatial data sources into analytical workflows and produce maps and dashboards for operational use.
• Digital Technology and AI Applications: Collaborating with specialists to identify and apply digital technologies to urban development challenges, including the use of AI and machine learning for infrastructure planning and climate risk assessment.
• Knowledge and Capacity Building: Supporting the department's knowledge agenda by preparing technical notes, contributing to learning events, and helping teams build familiarity with digital tools and data-driven approaches. Your role will be pivotal in enhancing the department's ability to deliver high-quality urban development support.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of a master's degree in urban planning, urban economics, geography, development studies, public policy, or a related field. Those with degrees in computer science, data science, or engineering with substantial applied experience in urban development contexts will also be considered. Additionally, candidates should have 2-6 years of relevant professional experience in urban development, land administration, housing, spatial planning, or closely related areas. Demonstrated experience in applying digital technologies, such as geospatial tools and data analytics, to urban challenges is required. Familiarity with the development finance context and the analytical challenges faced by multilateral institutions is advantageous. Candidates should also have a solid grounding in urban development, with knowledge of land tenure, housing policy, urban planning, municipal finance, or urban resilience.

Educational Background:
The position requires a master's degree in a relevant field such as urban planning, urban economics, geography, development studies, public policy, or a related discipline. Candidates with degrees in computer science, data science, or engineering who have substantial applied experience in urban development contexts will also be considered. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of urban systems and the analytical skills needed to address development challenges effectively.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have 2-6 years of relevant professional experience in urban development, land administration, housing, spatial planning, or a closely related area. Experience working in developing country contexts or with multilateral institutions or government clients is an advantage. Candidates should demonstrate a solid grounding in urban development and have experience applying digital technologies to urban or development challenges. Familiarity with urban data ecosystems and the limitations and opportunities associated with various data sources is also important.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, with the ability to communicate technical findings to non-technical audiences and present analytical results clearly. Proficiency in additional languages is considered an advantage, as it can enhance communication and collaboration in diverse environments.
