Job Overview: The Accountant II position is integral to the financial management of the Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) project, which is funded by the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and the U.S. Department of State. This role involves performing a variety of accounting functions, including recording, classifying, examining, and analyzing financial transactions. The Accountant II will be responsible for reviewing and consolidating financial reports from the Country Office on a monthly basis, processing journal entries, managing cash receipts, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. The position also requires responding to inquiries, assisting in training sessions, and maintaining general ledger accounts. The Accountant II will participate in various accounting projects, including audits and system upgrades, and will be expected to apply accounting principles and practices to support field programs and analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">financial analysis projects.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Accountant II will have a comprehensive set of duties, including but not limited to: applying accounting principles to a range of fiscal functions, providing support for field programs through training on financial systems, assisting Global Program Management staff with financial aspects, reconciling sub-recipients with general ledger accounts, reviewing cash requests and journal entries, preparing account reports, developing control systems for cost distribution, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and external standards. The role also involves maintaining financial files, reviewing monthly financial reports for accuracy, assisting with audit requests, preparing financial statements, and potentially being involved in system design and implementation. The Accountant II will be expected to convey complex financial information clearly and establish effective working relationships to foster organizational success.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Accountant II position must possess a thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant information technology. They should be able to compile, monitor, and audit financial statements for accuracy and integrity. The role requires strong analytical and organizational skills, as well as the ability to interpret and apply accounting knowledge independently. Candidates should also demonstrate the ability to prepare and disseminate financial reports and serve as a technical advisor on fiscal management issues. The expected hiring salary range for this role is COP 73,000,000 - 90,000,000 annually for national local hires.
