Job Overview: The National ProjectCoordinator (NPC) will play a crucial role in managing the project titled 'Towards Sustainable Development in the Peruvian Amazon: Prevention of Child and Forced Labor in Ucayali.' This project is part of the Brazil-ILO South-South Cooperation Program, which aims to promote decent work and social justice in developing countries. The NPC will be responsible for overseeing the execution, supervision, and monitoring of all project activities to ensure that objectives are met according to the established work plan and evaluation criteria. The role requires close collaboration with various stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and international organizations, to facilitate the implementation of project goals. The NPC will also be tasked with preparing terms of reference, evaluating external consultants, and leading the project team in achieving performance objectives. This position demands a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances while maintaining strong communication with all project partners.
Duties and Responsibilities: The National Project Coordinator will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Managing the overall project execution, ensuring adherence to the work plan and monitoring and evaluation framework.
Preparing terms of reference for consultants and overseeing the selection and evaluation process.
Leading the development of the project work plan and ensuring timely implementation and evaluation of project activities.
Establishing performance objectives for team members and conducting evaluations in accordance with ILO policies.
Collaborating with partners to design and review work plans and budget proposals.
Monitoring project progress and addressing any issues that arise during implementation.
Maintaining strong relationships with technical officials and counterparts in relevant organizations to facilitate project goals.
Identifying challenges and proposing solutions to enhance project effectiveness.
Coordinating closely with government, employers' and workers' organizations, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in law, social sciences, or a related field. An additional degree or postgraduate studies in labor law is considered an asset. The position requires a minimum of two years of professional experience at the national level in project coordination, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. Experience working with government entities and development partners is highly desirable. Familiarity with international and national regulations regarding forced labor and child labor is essential, as is knowledge of social and labor policy formulation processes. Candidates should also have experience in engaging with workers' and employers' organizations and participating in tripartite institutional frameworks.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in law, social sciences, or a related field. Candidates with additional qualifications, such as a postgraduate degree related to labor law, will have an advantage in the selection process. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the complexities of labor issues and the legal frameworks that govern them.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least two years of relevant professional experience in project coordination and management at the national level.
