Job Overview: The primary purpose of the Asistente Técnico/a de Alojamiento e Infraestructura y Agua, Saneamiento e Higiene position is to support the implementation of humanitarian services related to housing, infrastructure, and WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) in alignment with NRC's programmatic strategy. This role involves providing technical support for projects aimed at ensuring affected individuals have access to adequate housing solutions, educational facilities, and various temporary or permanent community infrastructure solutions. The position also focuses on improving health conditions, ensuring access to safe water and sanitation, and promoting healthy hygiene practices among affected populations. The Asistente Técnico/a will work closely with the team to facilitate inclusive access to humanitarian aid while adhering to accountability mechanisms and promoting active participation from the affected communities. The role requires a strong understanding of the strategic frameworks guiding NRC's interventions in shelter and settlement, as well as WASH sectors.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Asistente Técnico/a will be responsible for ensuring adherence to NRC's policies, tools, manuals, and guidelines. Key responsibilities include supporting the implementation of project portfolios according to action plans, organizing and executing tasks based on priorities and standards, and developing knowledge in the area of specialization to enhance technical assistance effectiveness. The role involves resolving daily issues according to agreed procedures, preparing required status reports for management, and managing information securely in compliance with data protection standards. Specific duties include providing efficient and timely services in housing, infrastructure, and WASH, conducting needs assessments, promoting community participation in emergency assistance, facilitating information sessions, and ensuring that architectural designs and installations are culturally and contextually appropriate. The Asistente Técnico/a will also monitor financial expenditures related to project activities, request necessary materials, conduct quality control, and support the documentation and monitoring of project implementation activities.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a professional background in architecture, civil engineering, environmental engineering, hydraulics, or related fields with specialization in project coordination or management in construction, particularly in WASH installations. A minimum of one year of experience as a Technical Assistant in humanitarian contexts is required, along with knowledge and experience in relevant technical fields. Candidates should have experience working in complex and changing environments, with proven experience related to the responsibilities of the position. Basic knowledge of English is also necessary.
Educational Background: A relevant educational background in architecture, civil engineering, environmental engineering, or related fields is essential. Candidates should have specialized training or qualifications related to project management in construction, particularly in WASH installations.
Experience: A minimum of one year of professional experience in implementing housing, educational facilities, or community infrastructure projects, as well as experience in WASH projects and hygiene promotion in emergency contexts. Candidates should have experience working with governmental entities, UN agencies, or other humanitarian organizations in related fields.
Languages: Proficiency in Spanish is mandatory, and basic knowledge of English is required. Additional language skills may be advantageous but are not mandatory.
