Job Overview:
The Young Professionals Program (YPP) at the World Bank Group is designed for exceptional professionals who are eager to contribute to global development challenges. This program offers a unique opportunity for young professionals to apply their specialized technical expertise while gaining valuable experience across various sectors of the organization. Participants in the YPP will engage in a structured two-year program that includes three eight-month rotations, allowing them to work in their primary area of expertise, participate in cross-institutional projects, and gain field experience in country offices. The program emphasizes leadership development, technical training, and mentorship, preparing participants to become future leaders in the field of international development. Young Professionals will collaborate with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and disciplines, contributing to the WBG's mission of creating a world free of poverty and promoting sustainable development.

Duties and Responsibilities:
As a Young Professional at the World Bank Group, you will be involved in a variety of institutional and case administration tasks. Your responsibilities will include assisting ICSID management in developing and implementing institutional policies related to the ICSID Convention, maintaining panels of conciliators and arbitrators, and updating official documents. You will support ongoing projects and special initiatives, engage with member governments and stakeholders, and help prepare technical assistance seminars and training courses. Additionally, you will assist in organizing annual meetings, conduct legal research, draft memoranda and correspondence, and contribute to the maintenance of ICSID's institutional archives. In terms of case administration, you will analyze requests for conciliation and arbitration, assist in the constitution of tribunals, supervise financial aspects of proceedings, and help prepare procedural orders. Your role will also involve delivering presentations, representing ICSID at conferences, and contributing to knowledge creation and sharing within the organization.

Required Qualifications:
To be considered for the Young Professional position, candidates must possess a law degree (JD, LLM, or equivalent) and be admitted to the Bar (or equivalent) in at least one jurisdiction. Candidates should have 2-6 years of relevant professional experience, particularly in arbitration counsel or as a tribunal secretary in investment or commercial arbitration. A strong understanding of international investment law, public international law, and arbitration practices is essential. Candidates should demonstrate excellent organizational skills, the ability to work independently, and a sense of responsibility and integrity. Strong leadership skills, the ability to mentor junior colleagues, and excellent legal drafting skills in English are required, with additional skills in French or Spanish being desirable.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have a law degree, such as a Juris Doctor (JD), Master of Laws (LLM), or an equivalent qualification. Admission to the Bar or equivalent legal authority in at least one jurisdiction is mandatory. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of international law and arbitration processes, which are central to the role.

Experience:
The position requires 2 to 6 years of relevant professional experience. This experience should include significant exposure to arbitration, either as counsel or as a tribunal secretary in investment or commercial arbitration. Candidates should have a proven track record of handling complex legal issues and demonstrating a deep understanding of international investment law and arbitration practices.

Languages:
The mandatory language for this position is English, as all legal drafting and communication will primarily occur in this language. Proficiency in French and/or Spanish is considered a valuable asset, as it may enhance communication with a broader range of stakeholders and contribute to the organization's multilingual environment.
