Job Overview:
The Field Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the development and response of Solidarités International in their designated area, ensuring alignment with the Country Strategy and the organization's mandate. This role involves representing SI to various stakeholders, including aid workers, local authorities, and the media. The Field Coordinator is tasked with ensuring the security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security of SI teams and assets, as well as compliance with the organization's ethical framework. The position is newly established, requiring the Field Coordinator to navigate a complex administrative and political environment while balancing external representation and internal operations. The first few months will focus on structuring the new base, launching a new project, and implementing the country strategy at the area level.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Field Coordinator will manage the programs team, which consists of approximately 15 colleagues, and coordinate with department heads to oversee support functions at the Pemba base. Key responsibilities include developing operational strategies, ensuring compliance with security protocols, managing relationships with local authorities and NGOs, and representing SI in various forums. The Field Coordinator will also be responsible for launching new projects, managing budgets, and ensuring effective communication within the team and with external stakeholders. Additionally, the role involves adapting to the evolving security situation in Cabo Delgado and implementing necessary changes to maintain operational effectiveness.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and have 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least 3-4 years in a similar position. The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong technical skills in security and access management, external representation, and financial and HR management. They should also exhibit strong coordination, prioritization, and management skills, along with proactive communication abilities.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required for this position. This educational background should provide the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills applicable to the humanitarian sector, particularly in areas related to project management, security, and community engagement.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with a specific focus on roles similar to that of a Field Coordinator. This experience should include managing teams, coordinating with various stakeholders, and navigating complex operational environments, particularly in crisis situations.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, while proficiency in Portuguese is highly desirable. Knowledge of Spanish is considered a plus, especially if the candidate does not speak Portuguese. This multilingual capability is essential for effective communication with local communities and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The position is a salaried role with a starting gross salary of EUR 3,080 per month, which includes a base salary and an annual leave allowance. Additionally, a monthly Per Diem of USD 750 is provided, along with coverage for accommodation and travel expenses. The organization implements a break system, allowing for time off every three months, along with an additional rest day for each month worked. Expatriates are offered a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses, including medical, dental, and repatriation costs. Living conditions in Pemba are reported to be good for expatriates, with stable utilities and reliable internet access. The role involves frequent field visits, and while field locations may have basic living conditions, they are functional and accessible.
