Job Overview: The Human ResourcesCoordinator plays a crucial role in supporting the delivery of HR services across the Country Office and Area Offices in Mozambique. This position is responsible for ensuring the effective implementation of HR policies, procedures, and employee lifecycle processes in compliance with NRC standards and Mozambican labor legislation. The HR Coordinator will work under the supervision of the HR Manager and will provide operational HR support to managers and employees across multiple locations. Key functions include coordinating recruitment, onboarding, learning and development, HR reporting, and compliance activities to ensure a consistent, efficient, and employee-focused HR service delivery throughout the organization. The HR Coordinator is expected to contribute to a positive employee experience and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the workplace.
Duties and Responsibilities: The HR Coordinator is tasked with a variety of responsibilities that include supporting the implementation and consistent application of HR policies, procedures, and standards. This role involves coordinating HR operational activities and ensuring timely delivery of HR services to employees and managers. The HR Coordinator will maintain accurate, complete, and confidential personnel records, documentation, and HR databases. They will support employee lifecycle processes, including workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, employee development, and separation activities. Additionally, the HR Coordinator will ensure compliance with organizational policies, HR standards, and applicable labor legislation. They will also support employee relations processes and contribute to maintaining a positive, inclusive, and respectful work environment. Specific responsibilities include coordinating recruitment processes, preparing employment contracts, monitoring probation periods, coordinating staff induction, and supporting goal setting and performance management processes. The HR Coordinator will serve as a focal point for employee HR inquiries and provide guidance on HR policies, procedures, benefits, leave administration, and workplace practices. They will also coordinate the administration of staff benefit programs and support the HR Manager in employee relations matters, disciplinary processes, grievance handling, and conflict resolution activities. Furthermore, the HR Coordinator will prepare HR reports, workforce statistics, and employee data analysis to support operational and management decision-making.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the HR Coordinator position must possess a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Organizational Psychology, Law, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of progressive HR management experience is required, preferably in an HR Coordinator or similar role within an NGO or humanitarian context. Candidates should have experience across key HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and learning and development. A strong knowledge of local labor legislation and policies relevant to NGO operations is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, is required. Additionally, candidates should have training facilitation and capacity-building experience, as well as experience supporting work permit, immigration, and visa processes. Familiarity with HRIS and employee records management is also important. Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills are necessary, along with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion. Candidates should demonstrate strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Educational Background: The educational background required for the HR Coordinator position includes a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Organizational Psychology, Law, or a related field.
