Job Overview:

Reporting directly to the Area Manager, the logistics manager serves as the primary liaison for the regional logistics manager, addressing any logistical issues that arise and proposing viable solutions. This role is integral to the implementation of HI's logistics standards, which aim to enhance the positioning of logistics within the organization and promote professional development. The mission is particularly focused on supporting logistics priorities in East Sudan, facilitating the coordination office transfer, managing international shipments, and evaluating partner logistics capacities to provide necessary support. The logistics manager will also play a key role in internal coordination, assisting in the recruitment of a National Logistics Manager and supporting the Country Logistic Manager in various activities, ensuring alignment across departments and updating logistics procedures as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Area Logistics Manager include:

• Supporting the logistics department during the coordination office transfer and assisting with the logistics of international shipments.
• Evaluating the logistics capacities of partners and providing necessary support to strengthen them.
• Supporting the recruitment process for a National Logistics Manager for East Sudan.
• Assisting the Country Logistic Manager in covering the full scope of logistics activities and filling gaps during their absence.
• Managing internal coordination and ensuring departmental alignment.
• Reviewing, formalizing, implementing, and overseeing country-level coordination files, including supply plans and movement plans.
• Monitoring and enforcing country procedures related to travel, import/export, stock management, equipment management, and archiving.
• Providing support to resolve discrepancies identified during logistics audits in East Sudan.
• Ensuring compliance with monitoring charts at the country level, including EMC, PMC, TMC, CMC, FMC, and BMC. 1
• Acting as a key player in the rollout and implementation of HI’s logistics standards and procedures.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess at least 3 years of experience in managing humanitarian logistics, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in emergency responses within conflict-affected countries. The ideal candidate should demonstrate the ability to quickly adapt to emergency contexts, manage stress effectively, and work under pressure. Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills are essential, along with excellent communication and negotiation abilities in English. A high capacity for analysis and synthesis is required, along with proven experience in training and building local capacities.

Educational Background:

The contract includes various benefits tailored to the context of the mission, such as social coverage, unemployment insurance for EU nationals, a pension scheme, medical coverage with a 50% employee contribution, and repatriation insurance provided by HI. The gross monthly salary starts at 2720 €, with additional allowances including a net monthly per diem of 706 € and a hardship allowance of 500 €. Employees are entitled to 25 days of paid leave per year and a rest and recuperation period of 5 days every 8 weeks. The position is unaccompanied, and housing will be provided in a collective guesthouse managed by HI. For candidates residing in the country, a local compensation package will be offered.
