Job Overview:
The IDB Group is seeking an active undergraduate student for a paid internship under the Consultant modality as part of the 2027 Winter Internship Program. This competitive opportunity is designed for university students from member countries to gain insights into development work and corporate management within the Bank. Interns will acquire professional experience through hands-on learning, supporting various strategic initiatives within the organization. The role involves assisting in the preparation of strategic documents, conducting research and analysis, and maintaining knowledge management systems to ensure the quality and consistency of deliverables. Interns will engage in activities that enhance their understanding of the IDB Lab’s value proposition and priorities, as well as the broader context of private sector trends and country priorities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: assisting in the preparation of strategic documents and presentations that communicate IDB Lab’s priorities; conducting research and analysis on IDB Lab’s activities and private sector trends; analyzing portfolio and pipeline data to identify strategic insights; maintaining country profiles and strategic materials; ensuring the quality and consistency of knowledge products; and supporting knowledge management and coordination efforts. Interns will also be expected to collaborate with team members, contribute to strategic planning, and engage in continuous learning to enhance their skills and knowledge.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be active undergraduate students enrolled in a relevant program such as Business, International Relations, Economics, or Communication at an accredited university. They should have a graduation date that falls after the internship period. Additionally, candidates must be nationals of an IDB member country and should not have family members working at the IDB or IDB Invest. This internship opportunity is specifically for first-time participants in an IDB internship program, and candidates should not have previously held any staff or contractor positions within the organization.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate will be an undergraduate student actively pursuing a degree in fields related to business, international relations, economics, or communication. The candidate must have completed at least the second year of their undergraduate studies by the time of application and must be enrolled in their program during the internship period. The graduation date should be after the conclusion of the internship, ensuring that the candidate is still a student throughout the duration of the program.

Experience:
While prior work experience is not explicitly required for this internship, candidates should demonstrate strong research and analytical skills, as well as proficiency in project management and organizational abilities. Experience with data visualization, presentation design, and storytelling is considered desirable, but not mandatory. The internship is designed for students to gain practical experience, so a willingness to learn and adapt is essential.
