Job Overview: The IDB Group is seeking an active graduate student for the position of Credit Risk ManagementIntern. This internship is part of the 2027 Winter Internship Program, which is a competitive paid opportunity designed for university students from member countries. The intern will gain valuable experience in development work and corporate management within the Bank. The role involves supporting the credit team in conducting credit assessments of treasury issuers, performing analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">financial analysis, and preparing credit reports. The intern will also engage in research on issuers and regulatory developments, assisting in the enhancement and maintenance of analytical tools and dashboards. This position offers a unique chance to learn about credit risk analysis and develop professional skills in a collaborative environment.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
Supporting the credit team in conducting thorough credit assessments of treasury issuers, which involves financial analysis and peer benchmarking.
Performing extensive research on issuers, jurisdictions, markets, and regulatory developments to aid in credit risk assessments and portfolio monitoring.
Assisting in the preparation of clear, concise, and well-structured credit reports, memoranda, and presentation materials.
Sourcing, validating, and analyzing financial, market, and economic data that is crucial for credit assessments and reporting.
Supporting the enhancement, automation, and maintenance of analytical tools, dashboards, and data processes using software such as Excel, Power BI, and Power Apps.
Undertaking additional tasks related to treasury credit risk analysis and analytical tool development as assigned by the internship supervisor and senior team members.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must meet several qualifications to be considered for this internship. They should be active graduate students enrolled in a master's or Ph.D. program in Economics, Finance, Engineering, or Business from an accredited university. The graduation date must be after the internship period. Additionally, candidates must be nationals of an IDB member country and should not have family members working at the IDB or IDB Invest. This internship should be the first experience for the candidate within the IDB Group, and they should not have been a former staff member or contractor for the Bank or Corporation.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes being an active graduate student in a relevant field such as Economics, Finance, Engineering, or Business. Candidates must be enrolled in a graduate program as of the starting date of the internship and should have completed at least 50% of their coursework by the time of application. The graduation date must be after the internship period, ensuring that candidates are still students during the internship.
Experience: The level of experience required for this internship is primarily academic, as candidates are expected to be graduate students. However, strong analytical and research skills are essential, along with a solid understanding of credit risk and financial markets. Familiarity with credit rating methodologies and previous exposure to financial statement analysis will be advantageous.
