Job Overview: The IDB Group is seeking an active undergraduate student for a paid internship opportunity under the Consultant modality. This internship is part of the 2027 Winter Internship Program, which is designed for university students from member countries to gain insights into development work and corporate management within the Bank. Interns will acquire professional-level work experience through on-the-job learning, contributing to various projects and initiatives that align with the IDB Group's mission. Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will be responsible for utilizing specialized computer-assisted translation tools to create dedicated translation memory databases, which will enhance the efficiency of translating recurring texts in IDB Group documents. They will align official documents using alignment software and conduct research to compile terminology relevant to official Bank documents. Additionally, interns will contribute to the development of in-house glossaries and style manuals, ensuring consistency and quality in translations. Quality control reviews will be conducted to verify the accuracy and completeness of documents, and interns will produce draft translations of IDB Group documents from any of the Bank's official languages into their mother tongue for revision and feedback by in-house revisers. Furthermore, interns will assist in implementing language technology and analytics tools to improve translation processes.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be active undergraduate students enrolled in a program related to Literature, Language Studies, Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, Translation, or a similar discipline from an accredited university. It is essential that the graduation date is after the internship period to ensure eligibility. Fluency in English is mandatory, along with a native or working knowledge of one other Bank language, which can be Spanish, French, or Portuguese. Key skills required include a commitment to continuous learning, collaboration, client focus, effective communication, and a willingness to innovate.
