Job Overview:
The International Rescue Committee is expanding its portfolio to provide specialized child protection services in Homs and its surrounding areas. The Child Protection (CP) Caseworker will be responsible for conducting all steps of the case management process for a designated number of individual children who are vulnerable to abuse, exploitation, neglect, and violence, as well as their families. This role is crucial in ensuring that these children receive the necessary support and protection they need. The CP Caseworker will engage in various activities, including providing individual case management, supporting families, conducting awareness-raising sessions on child protection issues, and establishing and training Child Protection Committees (CPCs) to disseminate information on child protection topics. The position requires a proactive approach to identifying at-risk children and implementing parenting interventions and recreational activities to support their well-being.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The CP Caseworker will be responsible for providing individual case management for children in Homs and its surrounding areas, ensuring adherence to all case management steps. This includes maintaining accurate documentation and compiling case management forms in accordance with established procedures. The CP Caseworker will provide ongoing support to families and alternative care systems, participate in identifying children at risk of harm, conduct parenting skill sessions, and facilitate awareness-raising sessions on child protection issues. Additionally, the CP Caseworker will maintain complete and confidential case files, provide input for weekly activity plans, and submit monthly reports summarizing activities and challenges. The role also involves monitoring the safety and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security situation in the field, engaging in capacity-building opportunities, and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor to support program implementation. All IRC staff are expected to adhere to the organization's standards for professional conduct and employment policies.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in psychology, sociology, social work, education, or other relevant technical qualifications. Previous experience working with children in social work or community outreach is essential, along with a minimum of two years of experience implementing child protection programs, preferably in humanitarian or development settings. Candidates should demonstrate an understanding of working with vulnerable children and possess personal qualities such as being a team player, flexible, and having strong communication skills with children and caregivers. Analytical skills, the ability to handle pressure, and the capacity to work independently are also important. Basic computer skills and familiarity with Word and Excel are required, as well as experience working on Primero.

Educational Background:
A university degree in psychology, sociology, social work, education, or other advanced technical qualifications is required for this position. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively support vulnerable children and their families.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of experience in implementing child protection programs, preferably in social work or case management within humanitarian or development contexts. Candidates should have a demonstrated understanding of working with children, particularly those who are vulnerable, and possess the ability to handle complex situations with discretion and integrity.

Languages:
Fluency in Arabic is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not explicitly required.

The position is based in Homs, Syria, and requires 100% travel to field sites in Homs City, as well as attendance at regional and global workshops, trainings, and meetings.
