Job Overview: The position of Casual Worker (Assisting in MEAL Works) is crucial for supporting the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) functions within the North Area office of DRC. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting quantitative and qualitative data collection activities in the field, which are essential for needs assessments and monitoring efforts across DRC's operational areas in the North, including Aleppo, Hama, Homs, and Idleb. This role requires collaboration with various departments to ensure effective data collection and adherence to DRC's accountability principles. The Casual Worker will also assist in data entry, cleaning, and archiving, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of DRC's programming. Duties and Responsibilities: The Casual Worker will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
Conducting quantitative and qualitative data collection activities in the field for needs assessments and monitoring across DRC's operational areas in the North.
Supporting data entry processes using tools such as KOBO and ODK, ensuring data is accurately cleaned and archived.
Coordinating regularly with the PDQ department in the Country Office and the Management and Programme departments in the North Area Office to align data collection work plans and priorities.
Ensuring that all activities and services comply with DRC's accountability principles.
Raising awareness of DRC's Community Feedback Mechanism (CFM) during data collection efforts.
Performing other MEAL-related duties as requested by the Area Manager or PDQM, demonstrating adaptability and a willingness to take on additional tasks as needed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in data collection and cleaning, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels. Flexibility and a willingness to adapt work practices and hours are essential, particularly in potentially insecure environments. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and email communication, is required. Additionally, candidates should exhibit excellent communication skills and the ability to work respectfully in a multicultural environment. Self-motivation and a results-oriented mindset are also critical for success in this role.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should have a university degree or a technical institute degree in fields such as Economics, Administration, Business Management, Finance, International Relations, Development Studies, Computer Science, or a related discipline. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education, but a foundational understanding of these areas is preferred to ensure effective performance in the role.
Experience: A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in data collection and cleaning is required for this position. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in similar roles, showcasing their ability to handle data effectively and contribute to monitoring and evaluation processes. Experience working in humanitarian settings or with NGOs is advantageous, as it provides context for the challenges and dynamics of the work environment.
Languages: Fluency in Arabic, both written and spoken, is essential for this position. Candidates should also possess basic proficiency in English, which is preferred but not mandatory. The ability to communicate effectively in both languages will facilitate collaboration with diverse teams and stakeholders.
