Job Overview:
The UNEP FI Internship for the Banking Programme is designed for individuals who are passionate about sustainable finance and environmental issues. The intern will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the Principles for Responsible Banking (PRB) among UNEP FI's member banks. Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's duties and responsibilities will include:

• Supporting PRB implementation projects and working groups by providing technical assistance and contributing to project management tasks.
• Assisting in the development of thematic guidance for member banks, ensuring alignment with the Principles for Responsible Banking.
• Conducting research on sustainable banking topics, including but not limited to Nature & Biodiversity, Climate & Net-Zero, and Financial Inclusion.
• Participating in meetings with banks and external stakeholders to discuss PRB implementation and sustainable finance initiatives.
• Collaborating with UNEP FI’s thematic and cross-cutting teams to develop resources and tools that support member banks in their sustainability efforts.
• Gradually taking ownership of smaller initiatives and managing tasks independently as the internship progresses.
• Engaging in broader activities across the Banking Team, depending on skills and experience.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements at the time of application: a. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); b. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); c. Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation. A Master's degree in finance, economics, sustainability, environmental sciences, policy, and/or international relations/affairs is preferred. While professional work experience is not required for this internship, a field of study closely related to the internship is essential. Applicants must clearly explain how they meet this criterion in their application.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be students in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), or enrolled in a Master's or Ph.D. Programme, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. Programme. Proof of enrollment or graduation must be provided with the application, and an official certificate will be required at a later stage.

Experience:
While no professional work experience is required for this internship, candidates should have relevant academic experience or coursework related to sustainable finance, environmental policy, or economics. This internship is particularly suited for individuals looking to gain practical experience in the field of sustainable finance and environmental advocacy.

Languages:
Fluency in oral and written English is required for this internship, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of another UN language is desirable, which may enhance the candidate's ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders and resources.
