Job Overview: The Information Management Consultant will play a crucial role in enhancing the information management systems within the Infrastructure and Camp Improvement Programme (ICIP) at UNRWA. This position requires a strategic approach to review and strengthen existing information management tools, datasets, and reporting workflows. The consultant will be responsible for improving data quality, standardization, and analysis to support decision-making processes across both Headquarters and Field Offices. The role involves close collaboration with technical focal points and requires a deep understanding of data management practices, as well as the ability to provide technical support for the development of information products such as dashboards and reports. The consultant will also contribute to the development of UNRWA's geo-spatial portal, ensuring alignment with operational requirements and information management standards. This position is expected to last for 12 months and is equivalent to the P-3 level, with a monthly remuneration of USD 8,057.67.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Information Management Consultant include:
Conducting a comprehensive review of ICIP’s existing information management systems, tools, datasets, and reporting workflows, and preparing an assessment with actionable recommendations for improvement.
Supporting the harmonization of information management tools and reporting templates to enhance consistency and reduce duplication across ICIP functions.
Contributing to the development of UNRWA's geo-spatial portal by providing structured feedback and technical review inputs.
Enhancing data quality and usability by reviewing and improving ICIP data structures and reporting tools.
Providing technical support for the development of information products, including dashboards and analytical outputs.
Supporting FMIS-related reporting from Field Offices and tracking project implementation stages.
Promoting the application of relevant data standards and quality assurance measures.
Coordinating with various departments and Field Offices to strengthen reporting flows and clarify roles and responsibilities.
Offering user-oriented technical support for effective use of reporting tools and templates. 1
Documenting workflows and guidance notes to support continuity and improved use of information management tools. 1
Providing on-the-job guidance to staff to strengthen understanding of information management practices. 1
Performing other related duties as required to support ICID’s information management and data ecosystem.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Information Management Consultant position include:
An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in information management, statistics, data science, computer science, GIS, engineering, or a related field.
A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in data management, data analysis, information technology, GIS, or related fields.
At least two (2) continuous years of relevant international experience outside UNRWA and outside the country(ies) of their nationality or citizenship.
Knowledge of responsible data practices, including data protection and appropriate data-sharing.
Demonstrated experience in developing dashboards, reporting tools, or other information products for program or operational use.
Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders and present technical information clearly to non-technical audiences.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in fields such as information management, statistics, data science, computer science, GIS, engineering, or other relevant disciplines. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of data management and analysis required for the role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in areas such as data management, data analysis, information technology, GIS, or related fields. Additionally, candidates must have at least two (2) continuous years of relevant international experience outside UNRWA and outside their country of nationality or citizenship, which is crucial for understanding the global context of humanitarian data management.
Languages: The mandatory language requirement for this position is an excellent command of written and spoken English. Knowledge of Arabic is considered desirable, as it may facilitate communication and understanding within the regional context of the work.
