Job Overview:
The Quality Assurance Consultant will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and effectiveness of the projects undertaken by UN-Habitat, particularly in the context of solid waste management in Bolivia. The consultant will be responsible for utilizing their expertise to deliver partial progress reports and receive feedback throughout the consulting process. This role requires a deep understanding of the organization's processes, procedures, and standards to maintain high-quality outputs. The consultant will also be tasked with proposing formats and procedures that facilitate the efficient implementation of the agency's projects, ensuring proper maintenance and accessibility of project files, and designing methodologies for documenting good practices related to project implementation. Additionally, the consultant will support the formulation of substantive documents linked to UN-Habitat's thematic lines of action and prepare reports related to various meetings and activities. Research activities will also be a key component of this role, aimed at facilitating knowledge exchange on sustainable urban development issues, particularly in the Andean region. The consultant will be expected to identify strategic allies for the implementation of the New Urban Agenda and manage knowledge networks for disseminating methodologies and documents generated by the agency.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant's duties and responsibilities include:
  • Keeping the HUB Coordinator informed and obtaining validation of activities throughout the project cycle.
  • Coordinating with the SIGIR Team to gather user stories and functional requirements for each module under test.
  • Creating Test Plans that document the testing strategy, approach, and scope for each product.
  • Designing and documenting Test Cases based on user stories.
  • Executing manual tests (both functional and exploratory) across all assigned modules.
  • Preparing structured Bug Reports that include reproduction steps, severity, and priority.
  • Compiling Test Execution Reports with quality metrics.
  • Tracking bugs and following up on the status of defect resolutions.
  • Coordinating with the SIGIR Team for test case validation and product sign-off. 1
  • Executing load testing scenarios for various platforms including the Web Portal and Mobile App. 1
  • Ensuring that products are thoroughly tested and validated before advancing to production or the next stage.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a first degree in areas related to computer science, systems engineering, or related fields. Additional relevant certifications in Software Testing and/or Quality Assurance are desirable. A minimum of two years of professional experience in Software Quality Assurance and Manual Testing is required. Candidates should demonstrate experience in designing and executing test cases based on user stories, as well as functional and exploratory testing. Experience in coordinating with development teams and product owners is also necessary.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a first degree in computer science, systems engineering, or a related field. Additional certifications in Software Testing or Quality Assurance are considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's qualifications for the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of professional experience in Software Quality Assurance and Manual Testing. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in designing and executing test cases, as well as conducting functional and exploratory testing. Experience in coordinating with development teams and product owners is also essential for this role.

Languages:
For this position, proficiency in English and Spanish is required, as these are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable and may be beneficial for candidates.

The expected duration of the consultancy is three months, and the payment terms are based on the delivery and acceptance of specific products. The consultant will be compensated upon the successful delivery of partial and final products.
