Job Overview:
The PPH Associate will work under the functional guidance of the Assistant PPH Officer and will play a pivotal role in the development of the Private Philanthropy team. The primary focus will be on expanding UNHCR’s Major Donor pool in China. This includes assisting in the formulation and execution of the PPH strategy specific to philanthropy and high-net-worth individual (HNWI) engagement within the Chinese market. The incumbent will lead the end-to-end development of the Major Donor programme, which encompasses donor acquisition strategies, pipeline building, and stewardship frameworks. The role requires identifying, qualifying, and cultivating prospective Major Donors aligned with UNHCR priorities and the local philanthropic landscape. The PPH Associate will take ownership of selected donor relationships across the full donor lifecycle, including prospecting, cultivation, conversion, and stewardship. Additionally, the role involves conducting market mapping and research to identify new donor segments and fundraising opportunities, providing insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making, and facilitating effective information management and knowledge sharing within the team.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The PPH Associate will be responsible for a comprehensive set of duties, including: assisting in the formulation and execution of the PPH strategy; leading the development of the Major Donor programme; identifying and cultivating prospective Major Donors; managing donor relationships throughout the lifecycle; conducting market research to identify new fundraising opportunities; providing insights for strategic decision-making; organizing and distributing relevant partnership documents; assisting with logistics for internal and external events; developing pitches, presentations, proposals, and reports; maintaining accurate records of partnerships and donor interactions; supporting communication strategies for philanthropy; ensuring compliance with UNHCR Due Diligence Procedures; enhancing UNHCR’s visibility; creating promotional materials for campaigns; and undertaking other related duties as needed to support the team’s overarching goals.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a completion of a high school diploma, with a preference for candidates who have completed a university degree in Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, International Relations, Sociology, or other related disciplines. Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience for those with a high school diploma, or 2 years for those with a Bachelor’s degree or higher. Experience in corporate fundraising from UN agencies, international NGOs, or Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is essential. Candidates must possess excellent knowledge of UN procedures, particularly those of UNHCR, and be proficient in MS Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint. Strong writing and communication skills in both English and Chinese are also required.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed at least a high school diploma, with a preference for those who have a university degree in relevant fields such as Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, International Relations, or Sociology. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of fundraising and donor engagement within the context of UNHCR's mission.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience for candidates with a high school diploma, or 2 years for those with a Bachelor’s degree or higher. This experience should include work in private philanthropy programs, corporate fundraising, or related fields within UN agencies, international NGOs, or corporate social responsibility initiatives. Familiarity with UNHCR's operations and humanitarian issues is highly advantageous.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, and candidates must also possess excellent writing and speaking skills in Chinese. Knowledge of additional languages is considered a plus, but not required for this position.
