Job Overview:
The Associate, Communications plays a crucial role in supporting the delivery of high-quality external communications that align with the EBRD's strategic objectives. This position is based in Warsaw and involves serving as the communications lead for selected regions, including Poland, Romania, and the Baltic states. The Associate will be responsible for coordinating and delivering external communications, which includes managing media engagements and producing multi-channel outputs that effectively communicate the Bank's activities and impact. The role demands strong writing, media relations, and digital skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, multinational environment. The Associate will work under the oversight of the Principal, Communications, and will be expected to contribute to the Bank's reputation and visibility through proactive media engagement and strategic communications counsel.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Associate, Communications is accountable for a variety of core responsibilities, including:

• Communications Delivery: Producing clear, accurate, and engaging communications content that aligns with the Bank's strategy and brand. Supporting the delivery of communications across various channels, including digital platforms, publications, campaigns, and events. Adapting content appropriately for different audiences and formats.
• Editorial and Content Support: Researching, drafting, editing, and updating communications materials to ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness. Applying editorial standards and brand guidelines consistently. Identifying stories, themes, and opportunities that support communications objectives.
• Planning and Coordination: Supporting the planning and coordination of communications activities within the media relations team. Managing multiple tasks and deadlines effectively, flagging risks or issues as appropriate. Contributing to the evaluation of communications outputs and their impact.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Building and maintaining effective working relationships with internal stakeholders across departments and Resident Offices. Engaging with media, external partners, and other stakeholders as required. Supporting meetings, briefings, and events as necessary.
• Collaboration and Professional Conduct: Working collaboratively with colleagues across the Communications Department. Demonstrating initiative, reliability, and good judgment in day-to-day work. Upholding the Bank's Behavioral Competencies and standards of integrity and professionalism.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in communications, journalism, media, international relations, or a related discipline, or have equivalent professional experience. Additionally, candidates should have at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in media relations, communications, or a related field. A demonstrable knowledge of the Central and Eastern European (CEE) media landscape is essential, including a strong news sense and awareness of the political environment. Candidates should also have a proven track record of delivering media coverage and communications outputs under pressure, as well as strong writing skills to produce clear, accurate, and effective written communications within agreed timescales. Experience working with senior stakeholders and handling sensitive or complex material is also required.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in communications, journalism, media, international relations, or a related discipline. Equivalent professional experience may also be considered acceptable in lieu of a formal degree.

Experience:
The position requires at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in media relations, communications, or a related field. Candidates should have a strong understanding of the CEE media landscape, particularly in Poland and Ukraine, and should demonstrate a proven ability to deliver media coverage and communications outputs effectively under pressure. Experience working with senior stakeholders and managing sensitive or complex materials is also essential.

Languages:
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are mandatory. Proficiency in Polish and/or Ukrainian is considered a plus, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with local media and stakeholders effectively.
