Job Overview:

The intern will work closely with the Learning and Development team at CDOTS, contributing to the UN's mission by supporting the translation and localization of training materials. Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: - Supporting the translation, localization, and quality assurance of learning and training materials from English into French. - Ensuring linguistic accuracy, consistency, and cultural appropriateness in all translated materials. - Assisting in the management, maintenance, and publication of multilingual content using the Organization's translation tool and Learning Management System (LMS). - Reviewing, editing, and proofreading translated materials to ensure high quality. - Collaborating with team members and stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of French-language learning content. - Engaging in knowledge sharing and contributing to the overall goals of the Learning and Development team.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this internship, applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) in Translation or a related field; or (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent) in any of the fields above. Additionally, applicants must be proficient in standard office software systems, such as MS Office 365 or similar. Preference will be given to those with a background in translation and demonstrated proficiency in using translation tools like Smartcat or Deepl.

Educational Background:
Applicants must be either currently enrolled in or have completed a relevant academic program. This includes being a student in the final year of a first university degree (bachelor's or equivalent), or having completed a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD Programme. The field of study should be closely related to the internship role, particularly in Translation or a related discipline. Proof of enrollment or completion of the relevant degree will be required during the application process.

Experience:
While professional work experience is not a requirement for this internship, applicants should have a field of study that is closely related to the internship role. This means that candidates should ideally have academic experience or coursework that aligns with the responsibilities of the position, particularly in translation and instructional design.

Languages:
Fluency in both spoken and written English and French is mandatory for this internship, as these are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in both languages to effectively contribute to the translation and localization of training materials.

This internship is available for a duration of 3-6 months and can be undertaken either in person in New York or remotely. The position can be full-time or part-time, depending on the intern's availability. It is important to note that interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations, and all costs related to travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the interns or their sponsoring institutions. Additionally, for non-U.S. citizens or permanent residents, obtaining a G4 visa and ensuring valid employment authorization is mandatory.
