Job Overview: The Associate Communications Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the development and execution of communication strategies that align with the UN's objectives. This position requires the incumbent to devise strategic communication plans and campaigns, create compelling content, and utilize various channels to engage audiences inclusively. The officer will also be responsible for building relationships with key partners and stakeholders to enhance communication efforts and evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns. Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop campaign strategies to raise awareness and mobilize support for the UN’s objectives.
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to define campaign goals and messaging strategies.
Create campaign concepts, content, and materials, including digital and print assets.
Manage campaign implementation, including timelines, budgeting, and coordination with vendors.
Ensure communication materials effectively convey the organization's impact and comply with branding standards.
Organize media engagement and coverage for campaigns and events.
Build and maintain relationships with partners to amplify advocacy messages.
Coordinate joint initiatives and campaigns with partners.
Monitor and evaluate campaign performance, providing insights for future strategies. 1

Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess the ability to develop and implement effective communication strategies and partnership strategies. They should be able to draft clear messages tailored for diverse audiences and demonstrate professionalism in their work. The ideal candidate will show persistence in overcoming challenges and take responsibility for incorporating gender perspectives in their work. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, along with the ability to listen and engage in two-way communication. Creativity in problem-solving and a willingness to consider new ideas are also important.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in communication, journalism, international relations, digital communications, or a related field is required. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
Experience: A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in communications, international relations, or related fields is required. This experience should demonstrate the candidate's ability to manage communication strategies and campaigns effectively.
Languages: English is required for this position, with a minimum proficiency level of UN Level II in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Knowledge of French, Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), Spanish, or Russian is desirable, with a minimum proficiency level of UN Level I in these languages.
Additional Notes: This position is temporarily available for a period of ten months. If the selected candidate is a current UN staff member, the selection will be treated as a temporary assignment.
