Job Overview:
The UN DOS Intern in Data Research will be part of the Office of Supply Chain Management (OSCM) within the Department of Operational Support (DOS). This internship offers a unique opportunity to engage in meaningful projects that contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of supply chain operations at the UN. Interns will work closely with experienced professionals, gaining insights into the UN's operations and the critical role of data in decision-making processes. The role involves gathering and analyzing data, creating visual representations, and supporting team members in maintaining databases. Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:

• Gathering and analyzing data from multiple sources, performing statistical analysis, and developing reports and visualizations.
• Maintaining databases and assisting with data cleaning from primary and secondary sources.
• Creating data visualizations for internal and external use.
• Translating data results into written reports and presentations for management.
• Identifying trends and patterns using statistical methods and basic machine learning techniques.
• Contributing to the development of data science solutions that support organizational planning and decision-making.
• Documenting new data sources and process pipelines, ensuring data quality for complex analyses.
• Collaborating with team members to implement innovative approaches to organizational challenges.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this internship, applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be in the final academic year of a university degree program (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent); or (c) have graduated with a university degree. Candidates should have relevant coursework or experience in areas such as Analytics, Business Intelligence, Computer Science, Economics, Statistics, Operations Research, Engineering, Mathematics, or Data Visualization. Knowledge of data analysis tools is desirable, but no prior work experience is required.

Educational Background:
Candidates should be pursuing studies in fields related to data science, analytics, or business intelligence. Relevant educational backgrounds include degrees in Computer Science, Economics, Statistics, Operations Research, Engineering, Mathematics, or similar disciplines. The internship is designed to accommodate a broad range of educational experiences, and applicants are encouraged to highlight any relevant coursework or skills that would benefit the UN during their internship.

Experience:
No prior work experience is required for this internship. However, candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of data analysis concepts and tools through their academic coursework or projects. The internship is open to individuals at various stages of their educational journey, including those who are currently enrolled in university programs or have recently graduated.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, is considered desirable and may enhance a candidate's application. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively in both written and spoken formats.
