Job Overview: The National Program Analyst position at UN Women in Ethiopia is primarily focused on managing and implementing programs related to Women Peace and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security and Humanitarian Action (WPSHA). The role involves providing substantive inputs to design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design, implementation, monitoring, and reporting, particularly concerning the Women Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF). The analyst will work closely with various stakeholders, including government agencies, civil society organizations, and UN Women teams, to ensure that humanitarian responses effectively address the needs of women and girls. The position requires a strong understanding of gender issues and the ability to navigate complex humanitarian contexts, ensuring that women's voices and needs are prioritized in all actions taken.
Duties and Responsibilities: The National Program Analyst will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:
Contributing to the development of program strategies in WPSHA by providing technical input to program/project proposals and identifying areas for support.
Implementing and managing the WPSHA program, including leading the coordination of calls for proposals, reviewing partner reports, and training partners on Results Based Management.
Providing technical assistance and capacity development to project partners, maintaining relationships with national partners, and facilitating training as needed.
Monitoring program implementation and finances, drafting reports on program results, and providing inputs for donor and UN Women reports.
Providing technical support for inter-agency coordination and advocacy efforts related to WPSHA.
Developing knowledge management products and coordinating advocacy campaigns and events.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as Law, Human Rights, Gender, Peacebuilding, or Social Sciences. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. A project/program management certification is considered an advantage. Additionally, candidates should have strong program formulation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation skills, as well as knowledge of Results Based Management and the ability to analyze data and trends related to fundraising.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree in relevant fields such as Law, Human Rights, Gender, Peacebuilding, or any other Social Science area. A first-level university degree may be accepted if accompanied by two additional years of qualifying experience. A project/program management certification would be beneficial but is not mandatory.
Experience: At least 2 years of progressively responsible work experience in development program/project implementation, coordination, monitoring, evaluation, and donor reporting is required. Experience in gender equality and women's empowerment, particularly in WPSHA and normative engagement, is desirable. Familiarity with international instruments and national laws related to violence against women and girls is also preferred, along with experience in advocacy on gender-sensitive policies.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered desirable and may enhance a candidate's profile.
