Job Overview: The Procurement Officer NOA position at WFP is crucial for ensuring the efficiency of procurement operations and activities. The role involves collecting, analyzing, and reporting on procurement information to maximize operational efficiency. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Procurement Officer include but are not limited to:
Supporting procurement programs and operational activities by issuing tenders, evaluating offers, and negotiating/awarding contracts.
Analyzing data to provide recommendations for process improvements in procurement operations.
Collating data and preparing accurate and timely reports on procurement activities to facilitate informed decision-making.
Assisting in the auditing of procurement activities by gathering necessary information and ensuring compliance with established rules.
Collaborating closely with internal teams to ensure procurement activities align with WFP's broader objectives.
Training WFP staff on procurement strategies and practices, including the design and review of training materials.
Guiding and supervising junior staff, providing support with analysis and queries.
Following emergency preparedness practices to ensure rapid response capabilities in crisis situations.
Acting in an emergency response capacity as needed to meet food assistance requirements. 1
Performing other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications: The position requires an advanced university degree in Economics, Commerce, Business Administration, Engineering, Legal, Accounting, or a related field. Alternatively, a first university degree with additional years of relevant work experience and/or training may be accepted. Candidates should possess experience in handling routine transactions related to the purchase of commodities, goods, or services, as well as experience in developing timelines and cost reports for suppliers. Demonstrated experience in coordinating procurement processes with other units or teams is also essential.
Educational Background: Candidates must have an advanced university degree in a relevant field such as Economics, Commerce, Business Administration, Engineering, Legal, or Accounting. A first university degree may be acceptable if accompanied by additional relevant work experience and training. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of procurement operations and ensuring compliance with WFP's standards.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of relevant work experience in procurement or related fields. Experience in handling routine transactions, coordinating procurement processes, and developing cost reports is highly desirable. The role may also require familiarity with logistics and administrative processes within an organization, indicating a well-rounded understanding of operational needs.
