Job Overview:
The UNEP FI Regional Lead for Latin America and Caribbean is a pivotal role that involves engaging a diverse range of financial institutions, including commercial banks, insurers, and multi-lateral development banks. The consultant will contribute to the sustainable finance hub, focusing on integrating sustainability into financial market practices. This position aims to strengthen the UNEP FI network in the region, helping member institutions adopt the Principles for Responsible Banking (PRB) and Principles for Sustainable Insurance (PSI). The consultant will also work on promoting sustainability across financial sector products and services, ensuring that human rights, gender equality, and a commitment to leaving no one behind are central to UNEP FI's operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including disseminating UNEP FI programs, engaging with thematic and industry teams, and encouraging member participation in the annual global work program. They will develop an engagement plan that includes bilateral meetings, webinars, and local projects, while also identifying growth opportunities and outreach strategies for potential new members. The consultant will support capacity-building activities, organize advisory body meetings, and collaborate with UNEP Regional Offices and other UN agencies. Additionally, they will engage with regulators and policymakers, support donor-funded projects in Brazil, and ensure effective communication with members. Specific tasks related to the Brazilian taxonomy will also be part of the role, including providing technical expertise and collaborating with industry associations and financial institutions.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a master's degree in communications, marketing, business, sustainability, environment, finance, international relations, business administration, or related fields. Alternatively, a bachelor's degree may be accepted if the candidate has at least 9 years of relevant experience. A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in international organizations, the financial services sector, or NGOs focused on sustainable development and finance is required. Experience in client-facing roles within sustainability-related consulting is considered an asset.

Educational Background:
A master's degree in a relevant field is required, with a bachelor's degree acceptable if accompanied by significant experience. The educational background should ideally encompass areas related to sustainability, finance, or international relations, equipping the candidate with the necessary knowledge to navigate the complexities of sustainable finance and environmental policies.

Experience:
The position requires at least 7 years of experience in roles that intersect sustainable development and finance, particularly within international organizations or the financial services sector. Candidates should have a proven track record of working in client-facing roles and supporting sustainability initiatives, demonstrating their ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Portuguese is mandatory, as these are the working languages of UNEP FI. Knowledge of Spanish and other United Nations languages is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate and collaborate within the diverse linguistic landscape of the region.

Additional Notes:
The position is remote and expected to last for 4 months. The consultant will report to the Head of UNEP FI and work closely with the regional coordination-team" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">coordination team, industry teams, and communications colleagues.
