Job Overview:
The Accounting Senior Associate position is integral to the Accounting Policy, Trust Fund, and Pension Reporting Group (ACC/PTR) within the Finance Department of the IDB. This role requires an energetic and dedicated individual who is team-oriented and capable of supporting the financial reporting and internal controls of donor trust fund resources. The associate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with accounting policies and standards, as well as contributing to the implementation of new accounting standards and financial products. The position involves technical accounting research, documentation, and collaboration with various stakeholders to maintain and update accounting policy documentation and ensure alignment with applicable standards. The associate will also support the financial reporting process for the Bank’s benefit plans and trust funds, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Accounting Senior Associate include supporting the monitoring and assessment of accounting and financial reporting requirements from standard setters and regulators. The associate will assist in evaluating the impact of new accounting standards and products, contribute to the implementation of these standards, and maintain the Bank’s accounting policy documentation. Responsibilities also include reviewing financial statement disclosures for compliance, supporting the financial reporting process for benefit plans and trust funds, and assisting in the annual external audit process. The associate will identify process improvement opportunities and collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate and analyze financial data for reporting and decision-making.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a master’s degree or equivalent in Accounting or a related field. A CPA or equivalent professional accounting certification is highly desired. The position requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or financial reporting, with 5 years preferred. Knowledge of SAP General Ledger and Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) standards is essential. Strong analytical skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a detail-oriented approach are necessary for success in this role. The ability to adapt to changing priorities and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment is also required.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a master’s degree in Accounting or a related field. Candidates with equivalent qualifications that align with the responsibilities of the role may also be considered. A CPA or similar professional accounting certification is highly desirable and adds significant value to the candidate's profile.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in accounting or financial reporting. Candidates with 5 years of experience will be preferred, indicating a higher level of expertise and familiarity with the complexities of financial reporting and accounting standards. Experience with SAP General Ledger and knowledge of ICFR standards are also highly valued.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of Spanish and Portuguese is considered a plus, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in a multilingual environment and collaborate with diverse teams.

The position is classified as an international staff contract with an initial duration of 36 months, which is renewable upon mutual agreement.
