Job Overview:
The Senior Programme Coordinator, AICRM, will play a crucial role in coordinating the Integrated Climate Risk Management Programme across seven Sahelian countries, including Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal, and The Gambia. This position is based in the Regional Coordination Unit (RCU) at the IFAD Multi-Country Office for Sahel in Dakar, Senegal. The incumbent will be responsible for day-to-day program management, ensuring effective coordination with country project teams and various stakeholders. The role requires collaboration with division staff, country directors, and technical experts to facilitate the successful implementation of the program. The Senior Programme Coordinator will also engage with key partners such as the Africa Risk Capacity (ARC) and the World Food Programme (WFP) to enhance program synergies and impact. The overall objective of the program is to increase resilience and improve the livelihoods and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">food security of smallholder farmers and rural communities through integrated climate risk management, ultimately benefiting 800,000 households and over 5.3 million beneficiaries, with a focus on gender inclusivity.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Programme Coordinator will have a range of responsibilities, including:

• Leadership within the Regional Coordination Unit: Leading and managing activities, staff, and resources related to AICRM, ensuring high performance and commitment to the program's success.
• Quality Control and Monitoring: Providing quality control for the implementation of country projects, monitoring program delivery, identifying potential synergies with other programs, and ensuring timely production of progress reports.
• Partnership Building and Representation: Facilitating communication and collaboration among stakeholders, compiling lessons learned, and sharing good practices.
• Managerial Functions: Ensuring integrity and transparency in resource management, fostering a cohesive team environment, and promoting continuous learning and innovation. The Senior Programme Coordinator will also be accountable for any additional duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong organizational competencies, including strategic thinking, leadership, problem-solving, and effective communication skills. The role requires the ability to manage time, resources, and information efficiently while fostering teamwork and building strategic partnerships. The incumbent should demonstrate a commitment to a client-focused culture and possess the capacity to innovate and share knowledge effectively.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree from an accredited institution in fields such as Risk Management, Sustainable Development, Climate Change, Environmental Economics, Finance, Insurance, Agriculture, Business, or related areas is required. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of climate risk management and sustainable agricultural practices.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 8 years of overall relevant experience, including three years in a multicultural or national organization providing support on a global scale. Specific experience in climate resilience, climate risk management, and knowledge of climate adaptation and its impacts on livelihoods, particularly in agriculture and small businesses, is crucial. Experience working with international institutions, donors, and government agencies, as well as organizing stakeholder consultations, is highly desirable. Familiarity with the Sahel region and its unique challenges will be considered an asset.

Languages:
Excellent proficiency in both English and French is required for this position, as effective communication with diverse stakeholders is essential for the successful implementation of the program.

Additional Notes:
This position is a temporary assignment with a duration of 11 months, expected to start shortly after selection. IFAD staff members are international civil servants and may be assigned to various activities within the organization.
