Job Overview: The Analyst role within the Financial Control team at the EBRD is designed for individuals who are looking to start their career in finance and accounting. This position is a trainee role, meaning that the successful candidate will be expected to pursue a Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification, with the costs of training covered by the Bank. The Analyst will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for the Bank and donor funds, as well as preparing financial reports for both internal and external stakeholders. This role requires a strong analytical mindset, as the Analyst will contribute to the preparation of monthly and quarterly management reports, as well as year-end financial statements. The position also involves applying the Bank's accounting policies to various financial instruments and providing advice on complex financial products or transactions. The Analyst will gain experience in different specialist areas within Financial Control and will be expected to liaise with auditors and respond to their queries. Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct analytical reviews of sections of the financial results to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
Contribute to the preparation of monthly and quarterly management reports and year-end financial statements.
Apply the Bank’s accounting policies to various financial instruments and transactions.
Provide advice to internal clients regarding complex financial products or transactions.
Gain experience and expertise in the three specialist areas within Financial Control.
Produce work that complies with the Bank’s Internal Controls Framework.
Liaise with internal and external auditors, responding to queries and providing necessary documentation.
Assist with the completion of project work as assigned by the line manager.
Successfully complete CA examinations and fulfill the experience requirements for CA qualification. 1
Undertake other ad hoc tasks as allocated by the line manager.
Required Qualifications:
Educated to degree level in a relevant field such as finance, accounting, or business.
Not ACA qualified or equivalent.
Fluent in English, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong numerical skills and proficiency in computer applications, particularly Excel.
Demonstrable interest in pursuing a career in accountancy and finance.
Educational Background: A degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field is required for this position. The candidate should have a solid understanding of financial principles and practices, as well as a strong foundation in numerical analysis and reporting.
Experience: This position is designed for entry-level candidates or recent graduates who are looking to start their career in finance and accounting. Previous experience in a finance-related role is not required, but any internships or relevant coursework will be considered an asset. The successful candidate should be eager to learn and develop their skills in a professional environment.
Languages: Fluent English is mandatory for this position, both verbal and written. Additional languages may be considered an asset but are not required.
