Job Overview:
The Project Coordinator for the SHAMSI project will play a crucial role in the coordination and implementation of renewable energy initiatives aimed at transforming local government units (LGUs) in Palestine into active energy investors. This position requires a proactive approach to project management, ensuring that all activities align with the project's objectives and the broader goals of UNDP. The coordinator will be responsible for maintaining project plans, monitoring budgets, and conducting field visits to assess progress. They will also engage with various stakeholders, including governmental officials, NGOs, and the local community, to foster collaboration and ensure the project's success. The role demands a strong commitment to gender mainstreaming and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances while providing innovative solutions to challenges that arise during project implementation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Coordinator will undertake a variety of functions, including:
  • Project Coordination and Implementation: - Maintain and monitor project plans, activities, and budgets in collaboration with project staff and partners. - Conduct regular field visits to gather data and assess project progress. - Identify and manage project risks and issues, providing solutions as necessary. - Ensure compliance with UNDP rules and regulations throughout project implementation. - Coordinate the implementation of Harmonized Approach to Cash Transfers (HACT) procedures.
  • Stakeholder and Partnership Engagement: - Organize meetings with stakeholders, including government officials, local government units, and private sector representatives. - Promote the engagement of women and youth in project activities. - Support capacity building for implementing partners and foster interlinkages among stakeholders.
  • Reporting, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning: - Assist in preparing procurement workplans and donor progress reports. - Draft monthly progress reports and document lessons learned and best practices. - Monitor project implementation against established indicators.
  • Communication: - Collaborate with implementing partners and stakeholders to develop communication materials. - Ensure compliance with donor branding and visibility requirements. The incumbent may also perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the office and organization.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience with a high school diploma or 4 years with a bachelor's degree in fields related to renewable energy, business administration, or international development. Proven experience in managing renewable energy or socioeconomic development projects is essential. Candidates should demonstrate strong skills in stakeholder engagement, project management, and monitoring and evaluation. Familiarity with UNDP procedures and experience in dealing with multilateral donors and local governments is highly desirable. Additionally, candidates should be proficient in using office software packages and project management tools, with advanced knowledge of data visualization tools being an asset.

Educational Background:
A secondary education is required, with a first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in renewable energy, business administration, international development, or a related field being advantageous. Candidates with relevant educational backgrounds will be given due consideration, although it is not a strict requirement for the position.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience for candidates with a high school diploma or 4 years for those with a bachelor's degree. Experience in coordinating and managing renewable energy projects or socioeconomic development initiatives is crucial.
