Job Overview: The Principal Training Centre position at UNRWA involves overseeing the development and implementation of various programs, projects, and daily operations at the Training Centre. This includes managing both administrative and technical aspects, particularly concerning financial, supply, transport operations, and the maintenance and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security of the Centre's premises and equipment. The incumbent will be responsible for the development, delivery, and assessment of training programs in line with prescribed curricula and timetables. They will also represent the Training Centre in various educational activities and maintain partnerships with employers and stakeholders to enhance the visibility and relevance of training activities. The role requires promoting discipline and well-being among trainees, ensuring access to health services, and integrating inclusive education and human rights principles into the programming. Additionally, the Principal will participate in budget preparation, oversee trainee enrollment processes, supervise staff, and guide initiatives for greening and digital transformation within the TVET framework.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee the development and implementation of the Training Centre’s programs, projects, activities, and daily operations, focusing on financial, supply, transport, and maintenance aspects.
Manage the development, delivery, and assessment of training programs in accordance with established curricula and timetables.
Represent the Training Centre in conferences and workshops, maintaining partnerships with employers and stakeholders.
Promote discipline and well-being among trainees, ensuring access to health services and recreational activities.
Participate in budget preparation and supervise expenditure control.
Oversee trainee nomination and enrollment processes, managing residential sections for safe living conditions.
Supervise project proposals and market surveys for developing specializations.
Advise on facility improvements and oversee short-term training courses.
Guide the implementation of OSH measures and trainings. 1
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree from an accredited institution in educational administration or a subject taught at the Training Centre. For external candidates, proof of completion of a professional development program equivalent to UNRWA's requirements is acceptable. However, successful completion of UNRWA's In-Service Professional Development program is mandatory within three years of appointment, with a possible extension to four years under certain conditions. Candidates must also demonstrate a commitment to professional conduct and staff development.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree in educational administration or a relevant subject is required. Additionally, candidates must possess a recognized diploma in education or a teacher training certificate of at least one year in duration. A Ph.D. in education, educational administration, psychology, or a related field is preferred.
Experience: Candidates must have at least seven years of progressively responsible relevant experience, including four years in an administrative or supervisory capacity in a TVET institution and three years of satisfactory teaching experience. Experience in supervision of a residential educational training centre or college is desirable.
Languages: English is required for this position, with a minimum proficiency level of UN Level II in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. French is also a working language of the UN, but no additional desirable languages are specified for this role.
Additional Notes: The position is a fixed-term appointment for one year, including a one-year probation period, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability. The monthly basic salary is USD 1,825.40, payable in Jordanian Dinar at the UN monthly exchange rate. Additional benefits include a Provident Fund contribution, compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave, and a dependency allowance if applicable. The incumbent may be required to reside in the training centre compound.
