Job Overview:
The Data Reporting Specialist position at CERN is designed for individuals who are passionate about data analysis, problem-solving, and transforming complex information into clear insights. The role is situated within the Business Computing (BC) group, which supports Finance and Procurement. The primary mission of this position is to analyze, improve, and modernize reporting and data solutions while ensuring that CERN's enterprise systems are effectively transformed to meet future analytics needs. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and developing CERN's Corporate Information Systems, contributing to the evolution of data solutions that support the organization's financial and procurement processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Data Reporting Specialist will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: extracting, transforming, modeling, and visualizing data in reports, dashboards, and analytics platforms; interacting with relational databases, primarily Oracle, using SQL and PL/SQL; developing, maintaining, and testing reporting data models and semantic models that support CERN's Finance and Procurement systems; maintaining, supporting, and enhancing existing reporting and data solutions while defining and implementing their future evolution; contributing to data profiling, mapping, quality checks, validation, and reconciliation activities during migration and transition phases; developing and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines and other data-processing activities as required; collaborating with business users, functional experts, architects, and developers to ensure data consistency, usability, and technical feasibility; and supporting testing, troubleshooting, documentation, maintenance, and third-level support for reporting and data solutions.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong foundation in data analysis and reporting, with experience in SQL, including writing, optimizing, and debugging complex queries. Familiarity with data visualization or analytics tools such as Power BI, R, or Python-based dashboards is essential. An understanding of data modeling principles, including dimensional/star schema design and data warehouses, is required. Additionally, candidates should have experience analyzing data structures, flows, and dependencies in complex enterprise systems. Exposure to data pipeline concepts and tools such as SQL, dbt, Airflow, or Python for data processing is also necessary. A keen interest in maintaining and modernizing reporting and data solutions during systems transformation is expected.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field. It is important that applicants have graduated within the last two years and have not previously held a CERN fellow or graduate contract. Applicants without a university degree or those with a PhD are not eligible for this position.

Experience:
Candidates should have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation. This experience should ideally be in roles related to data analysis, reporting, or data engineering, demonstrating a solid understanding of the technical and analytical skills required for the position.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory, as effective communication is crucial for this role. Additionally, candidates should be committed to learning French, which is considered beneficial for collaboration within the organization.

Additional Notes:
The position is a full-time role with a contract duration of 24 months, with the possibility of extension up to a maximum of 36 months.
