Job Overview:
The security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Officer position is critical for ensuring the safety and security of UNOPS personnel, assets, and operations. The incumbent will work within the framework of the UN Security Management System, providing technical, operational, and advisory support. This role involves coordinating with local security entities, conducting security risk assessments, and implementing security measures to mitigate risks. The Security Officer will also be responsible for developing and reviewing security plans, conducting training sessions, and ensuring compliance with security protocols. The position requires a strong understanding of local law enforcement processes and experience with the UN Security Management System.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Security Officer will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:

• Providing advisory and technical support for security risk management in all UNOPS operations and projects.
• Supporting the Field advisor" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Advisor in conducting Security Risk Assessments (SRAs) and developing mitigation plans.
• Advising project teams on local threats and appropriate protective measures.
• Developing and implementing office and project-specific Security Plans and contingency arrangements.
• Coordinating with the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) and other UN agencies for effective information-sharing and crisis response.
• Managing security operations for official missions and high-level events.
• Overseeing incident reporting mechanisms and ensuring timely documentation of security incidents.
• Conducting security briefings and training for personnel.
• Preparing security reports and maintaining confidential records. 1
• Supervising assigned security personnel and promoting professional growth.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in any discipline with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree (or equivalent) with no prior experience. A professional security certification, such as UNDSS SSAFE, HEAT, or CPP, is desired. Relevant experience in security management, law enforcement, or military is required, along with experience in security risk assessment and crisis management. Proficiency in collaboration and productivity tools is also necessary.

Educational Background:
The educational requirements for this position include a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline or a Master’s degree. The emphasis is on obtaining a degree that provides a foundational understanding of security management principles. Additional certifications in security-related fields are highly regarded and can enhance a candidate's profile.

Experience:
The position requires relevant experience in security management, law enforcement, military, or related fields. Candidates should have experience in security risk assessment, crisis management, and coordination with UN security structures. Familiarity with collaboration tools and experience in multicultural environments or UN organizations is preferred.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if they are relevant to the operational context of UNOPS in Pakistan.

The position is classified at the Associate level (ICS 08) and is offered as an Individual Contractor Agreement (ICA) under the LICA - Specialist - Regular contract type.
