Job Overview:
The Political Mobilization Intern will play a crucial role in supporting the High Ambition Coalition for Nature and People (HAC for N&P), an intergovernmental group comprising over 120 countries. The intern will assist in increasing political engagement among HAC for N&P countries to protect at least 30% of the world's land and ocean by 203

• This position involves working closely with the Senior Program Officer for Political Mobilization and the manager of the Rapid Deployment Mechanism. The intern will be responsible for integrating equity into their work and supporting bilateral engagements between HAC for N&P and its members, particularly the International Steering Committee. The intern will also help develop the yearly workplan, organize high-level events, and track progress on the 30x30 initiative. This internship offers a unique opportunity to engage with global environmental policy and contribute to significant international efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's responsibilities will include supporting the follow-up of the Rapid Deployment Mechanism (RDM) grantees for 2025 and 2026, which involves monitoring grant activities and ensuring compliance with reporting requirements. The intern will engage with HAC for N&P members, particularly the International Steering Committee and the 30x30 Ambassadors Network, to support the political mobilization strategy. Additionally, the intern will assist in organizing and systematizing information regarding HAC for N&P members' progress on the 30x30 initiative. Concrete deliverables will include creating bilateral engagement talking points, organizing high-level events at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and CBD COP17, and updating tracking tools that focus on the progress of HAC for N&P members regarding the 30x30 target.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in international relations, diplomacy, biodiversity conservation, environmental studies, project management, or a related discipline. A strong understanding of the United Nations multilateral system, particularly the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), is essential. Candidates should also have knowledge of the biodiversity ecosystem, including relevant NGOs and financial institutions. Strong organizational and communication skills are required, along with the ability to work collaboratively within a team and with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Effective time management skills are necessary to meet deadlines and multitask efficiently. Familiarity with Microsoft 365 Suite and SharePoint is also required, and proficiency in additional languages is considered an asset.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as international relations, diplomacy, biodiversity conservation, environmental studies, or project management is required for this internship position. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of global environmental policy and the role of international organizations in promoting sustainability.

Experience:
The internship is designed for current students, recent graduates, or candidates with limited professional experience in the field. While prior experience in political mobilization, environmental policy, or related areas is beneficial, it is not a strict requirement. The focus is on candidates who are eager to learn and contribute to the mission of WRI and the HAC for N&P.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position. Additional language skills are considered an asset, particularly those relevant to the countries involved in the HAC for N&P, as they may enhance communication and collaboration with international stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This is a part-time internship position requiring 20 hours of work per week over a duration of 6 months. The internship is hybrid, with a requirement to work in the Washington DC office at least 4 days per month. Compensation for this internship is $20/hour for undergraduate students, $22/hour for graduate students, and $24/hour for PhD students.
