Job Overview:
The Senior Project Associate - Communication will play a crucial role in supporting the Food, Land and Water program at WRI India. This position involves close collaboration with project leads and the program communications team to develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy that aligns with project requirements. The associate will be responsible for creating engaging communication products that effectively share research findings and recommendations, disseminating these materials through various media channels and events. The role also includes managing communications for events, workshops, and roundtables, ensuring strategic engagement and awareness building among diverse stakeholders. The associate will track and evaluate the success of communication activities, manage digital content, and assist in planning both in-person and online events.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the program communications team in developing and executing a communication strategy that aligns with project requirements and coordinates with the project team.
  • Manage communications for events, roundtables, workshops, and virtual events to facilitate strategic engagement and awareness building.
  • Lead the dissemination of research pieces, blogs, stories, infographics, and other communication products through appropriate channels and events.
  • Co-create videos, blogs, stories, and infographics as part of the communication strategy.
  • Design and manage content for the program’s digital platforms, ensuring high-quality communication products through proofreading and editing support.
  • Track, evaluate, and report on metrics of success for various communication and engagement activities, including social media and internal web blogs.
  • Manage quality control and ensure timely dissemination of social media content, emailers, and newsletters.
  • Create and maintain outreach strategies around key events and launches of research papers and other products.
  • Develop content for various social media platforms, including Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram. 1
  • Support the development of a strategic engagement plan with relevant stakeholders in coordination with the program team. 1
  • Co-author, review, edit, and proofread blogs, articles, and other communication materials. 1
  • Assist in planning and executing in-person and online events using platforms like Zoom, MS Teams, Google Meet, and WebEx.

Required Qualifications:
  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in development communication, data journalism, or a related communications field with a focus on environmental issues.
  • A minimum of 4-7 years of full-time work experience in communication roles.
  • Demonstrated experience in communicating on social, environmental, food, landscape restoration, and climate change issues for diverse audiences.
  • Proven skills in developing communication campaigns, videos, written stories, infographics, newsletters, and reports.
  • Experience in managing media outreach and curating media interactions with journalists is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of design software such as PowerPoint, Canva, and Adobe InDesign, as well as email marketing tools like Pardot and Mailchimp.

Educational Background:
Candidates should possess a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in development communication, data journalism, or a related field that emphasizes environmental issues. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to effectively communicate complex environmental topics to a variety of audiences.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 4-7 years of full-time work experience in communication roles, particularly in areas related to social, environmental, food, and climate change issues. Candidates should have a proven track record of developing and executing communication strategies and campaigns, as well as experience in managing media relations and outreach.

Languages:

Additional Notes:
