Job Overview: The E T Consultant (Associate Platform Engineer) position is integral to the Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) Vice Presidential Unit (VPU) at the World Bank Group. This role is focused on supporting the design, implementation, operation, and continuous improvement of platform engineering and DevSecOps capabilities within the Geospatial Solutions portfolio. The incumbent will work as the primary DevSecOps resource embedded within the Geospatial Solutions Agile Release Train (ART), responsible for release management, deployment automation, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security remediation, platform operations, and cloud-based solution delivery. The role emphasizes the development and maintenance of scalable, secure, and reliable delivery platforms through the implementation of CI/CD pipelines, Azure DevOps administration, cloud technologies, and operational best practices. Collaboration with software engineers, product owners, architects, security teams, and business stakeholders is crucial to ensure efficient software delivery, operational excellence, compliance with organizational requirements, and continuous improvement across the geospatial solutions ecosystem.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Associate Platform Engineer will manage end-to-end release management activities for the Geospatial Solutions portfolio, overseeing the deployment, promotion, and validation of applications and services across development, testing, and production environments. Responsibilities include designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to automate build, testing, security scanning, and deployment processes. The role also involves analyzing, identifying, and remediating security vulnerabilities across applications, platforms, and environments, supporting secure software delivery and compliance with organizational security requirements. The incumbent will administer Azure DevOps services, support cloud-based solutions and infrastructure across Microsoft Azure and AWS, and lead OIS accreditation activities for various geospatial platforms. Additionally, the Associate Platform Engineer will contribute to Agile ceremonies, monitor deployment processes, and maintain technical documentation for release management processes and CI/CD pipelines.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field with a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience, or a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of seven years of relevant professional experience. They should demonstrate the ability to perform professional-level research and analysis in DevSecOps, platform engineering, cloud technologies, and software delivery practices. Proven experience in designing, implementing, supporting, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and release management processes within enterprise environments is essential, along with experience administering Azure DevOps and supporting cloud-native solutions in Microsoft Azure and/or AWS environments. Familiarity with Agile methodologies and SAFe practices is also required.
Educational Background: A Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field is required, or a Bachelor's degree with significant relevant experience. The educational background should provide a strong foundation in technical skills necessary for the role, including knowledge of software engineering principles, cloud technologies, and DevSecOps practices.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience for candidates with a Master's degree, or seven years for those with a Bachelor's degree. Experience should include hands-on work with CI/CD pipelines, Azure DevOps, cloud-native solutions, and containerization technologies such as Docker. Candidates should also have experience in vulnerability management and security compliance.
Languages: The mandatory language for this position is English. While no additional languages are specified as preferred, proficiency in other languages may be beneficial in a diverse workplace like the World Bank Group.
