Job Overview:
The Senior Business Intelligence & AI Specialist will play a crucial role in enhancing the data accessibility and decision-making capabilities of UNRWA through the design, development, and implementation of enterprise-level Business Intelligence (BI) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions. This position requires a deep understanding of data analytics, data warehousing, and AI technologies to deliver high-quality data models, ETL/ELT solutions, and Power BI dashboards. The specialist will work closely with the Enterprise Architecture & Business Intelligence team to ensure that the solutions developed align with the organization's architecture standards and meet the business requirements. The role also involves ensuring data quality and providing technical guidance to relevant teams, thereby facilitating knowledge transfer and capacity building within the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Consultant will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including: analyzing business requirements and translating them into technical BI and AI solutions; designing and developing dimensional data warehouse models and analytical/semantic models; creating OLAP cubes and supporting database objects; developing, maintaining, and optimizing ETL/ELT processes and data integration solutions; designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining Power BI reports, dashboards, KPI scorecards, and AI-powered dashboards; supporting the implementation and adoption of Microsoft Copilot and other AI capabilities within BI solutions; ensuring data quality, consistency, completeness, and accuracy through profiling, validation, cleansing, and monitoring activities; providing technical advice and recommendations related to BI, Power BI, analytics, AI, and data architecture; coordinating with the Enterprise Architecture & Business Intelligence team on technical design, architecture, deployment, and production support; providing technical guidance and knowledge transfer to BI developers and relevant technical staff; preparing and maintaining technical documentation including solution designs, specifications, operational procedures, and user manuals; and performing other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or a related discipline. Additionally, a minimum of six years of relevant professional experience is required, with a strong background in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, Software Development, or related fields. Candidates should have extensive experience with Microsoft Power BI, SQL Server, SQL development, and database scripting, as well as strong experience in Data Warehouse design and dimensional modeling, ETL/ELT development, and data integration. Proficiency in writing DAX and SQL is essential, along with experience using Microsoft SSIS and SSAS. Familiarity with implementing AI-powered analytics, Microsoft Copilot, or Generative AI solutions is also necessary, as is the ability to translate business requirements into analytical solutions and prepare technical documentation. Experience with Microsoft Azure and/or Microsoft Fabric is desirable.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or Software Engineering is required for this position. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge necessary for understanding complex data systems and technologies, which is crucial for the role of Senior Business Intelligence & AI Specialist.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of six years of relevant professional experience. This experience should encompass a range of areas including Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, and Software Development. Candidates should have a proven track record of working with BI tools, particularly Microsoft Power BI, and should be adept in SQL development and database management. Experience in developing ETL/ELT processes and data integration solutions is also essential, as is familiarity with AI technologies and their application in analytics.

Languages:
Fluency in both English and Arabic is required for this position, as these are the working languages of UNRWA. Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication and collaboration within the organization and with stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The consultancy is based in UNRWA Headquarters in Amman, Jordan, with the possibility for remote consultancy in the fields of UNRWA operations. This position is open to local candidates only. The selected candidate will receive a monthly remuneration of JOD 1,190.44 or its equivalent in USD for each fully completed month. The duration of the contract is for 12 months, with the possibility of extension subject to the availability of funds, continuing need, and satisfactory performance. The role operates under the supervision of the head of the Digital Impact Strategy and Data Officer and in coordination with the Enterprise Architecture & Business Intelligence team. It is important to note that the United Nations does not charge any fees at any stage of the recruitment process.
