Job Overview:
The Manager, Principal and Major Gifts Operations is responsible for leading the operational systems, reporting, and process effectiveness of the Principal and Major Gifts team. This role reports to the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Senior Director and is pivotal in owning key operational initiatives that enhance data quality, prospect management discipline, performance visibility, and the overall effectiveness of day-to-day team operations. The Manager collaborates closely with frontline fundraisers and cross-functional partners to develop and implement strategies that improve efficiency, accountability, donor stewardship, and team effectiveness. This position ensures that gift officers are equipped with the necessary tools, processes, and information to manage donor portfolios effectively. Additionally, the Manager supervises operational support staff, builds team capabilities through training and documentation, and provides functional leadership over operational processes and cross-team initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Manager, Principal and Major Gifts Operations include:

• Prospecting: Identify and develop new audience segments or donors that align with MSF-USA's strategy to create long-term value for the organization.
• Donor Cultivation, Engagement, and Management: Build trust and loyalty with potential and existing donors, updating them on activities and developing long-term relationships with key donor segments.
• Fundraising: Secure reliable and sustainable resources in alignment with MSF-USA's commitments.
• Brand Positioning: Drive awareness and consideration through effective brand positioning and implementation of brand plans.
• Insights and Reporting: Execute the data and analytics reporting plan for Principal and Major Gifts, creating templates and standards for meaningful data reporting.
• Improvement and Innovation: Identify and implement new business practices for Principal and Major Gifts Operations, delivering operational change initiatives that enhance efficiency and accountability.
• Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Data: Ensure high-quality donor information is maintained, partnering with Development Operations on data integrity and reporting standards.
• Training, Development, and Delivery: Design and deliver training content to fill capability gaps for the team, improving gift officer effectiveness and operational performance.
• Project Management: Deliver cross-functional projects and operational initiatives in collaboration with various internal teams, coordinating resources and timelines to achieve business objectives.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for this position include:

• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in operations, data management, project management, fundraising operations, or related functions, preferably within a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
• Demonstrated experience in supervising staff and supporting employee performance and development.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
• Experience managing and optimizing CRM platforms and reporting tools, preferably Salesforce NPSP, Tableau, or similar systems.
• Proven experience leading cross-functional initiatives and collaborating effectively with stakeholders across departments.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining complex operational concepts to non-technical audiences.

Educational Background:
Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates their capability to fulfill the responsibilities of the role effectively.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in relevant fields such as operations, data management, project management, or fundraising operations, ideally within a nonprofit or mission-driven organization. This experience should include demonstrated success in supervising staff and managing operational processes.

Languages:

This position is full-time and based in New York. The compensation range for this role is between $101,769 and $152,653, depending on relevant experience and skills.
